Another gem lantern already? Didn't you wanna do other stuff? And you're already repeating yourself with characters even though you haven't even done LAPIS yet?!Yeah, I did, but after "Keeping it Together" I just couldn't keep myself from doing this.
I mean, I wanted to do a black lantern gem anyways and how could I resist after Peridot raised the dead quite so literally?
And yeah, she wasn't technically dead in canon ever, but you know, see her as a sort of Black Hand and you'll get what I mean^^

I still stand by my potentially philosophical point. Besides, It's just fiction - you can make anything work as long as you let your imagination tick freely.
Plus, who said the gems were actually alive/living beings? Think about that.

Besides, for what I've seen, they don't really die - even when shattered, the shards still hold (un)life and if given the chance, they try to merge and regenerate.
Also yeah, now when I think about it more - the gems can indeed hardly be classified as living creatures. They do not need air or any kind of gas to exist, they don't eat, sleep, age or "die". They are basicly just a thought inside a rock...hmm...

Well, gems CAN die. It may not be permanent and there might still be a way to revive them, but a gem shattered so far that it can't be repared by healing powers is dead in my mind.
I think that, if there were black lanterns in the Steven Universe universe (hehe), they would probably not rip out the hearts of other gems but more likely their gems and crush them to power the Central Power Battery.

Originally I wanted to do a lot more undead stuff like with my previous black lantern drawing, you know, veiny arms and face and maybe crack up some of her armor, but in the end this just looked best to me in the style of the show^^
