Okay, looks like I'm still doing these!
So yeah, Bismuth. I actually really loved the episode she appeared in and thought that it provided some great development for Rose Quartz, the entirety of the former crystal gem army, and last but not least, for Steven.
I also really liked Bismuth as a character and sincerely hope, that she's gonna return at one point. She seems like someone who can actually be convinced that Steven is right, if she's given some more development.
But yeah, why did I go with red? Well, I thought about what category would be right for her for a while actually, before settling on red. Throughout most of her experience she is friendly, calm, but she is clearly still an angry warrior at heart.
She can't shake the feeling that they didn't win the war at all, that they are still under attack. And when Steven tells her, that her ideals are wrong, just like Rose Quartz must have done, she immediately attacks.
Her rage comes from her feelings of abandonment, her hatred of Homeworld and her fear for the wellbeing of her friends. Most of these are very relatbale. But her fury isn't any weaker just because it's in some ways righteous.
I also really like how the costume came together. The inspiration for morphing her headband into a more complex mask a-la Kyle Rayner that sort of resembles a helmet came from the fact that she's essentially a blacksmith, I can really imagine her being one of the few red lanterns that can actually form constructs as well because of that.
And when I saw the star on her belt-piece, combined with how her outfit was cut, I noticed that it was perfect for a big stylized Red Lantern Symbol. Same with the Star Tattoo on her arm.
