Description I originally sold this painting to a friend, who is a very big fan of the german band Rammstein. But, it gave his son nightmares so he gave it back to me and let me keep the money. So I guess this whole album cover thing is gonna become a collection.

This my oil painting of the album art for Rammstein's Mutter. The song 'Mutter' on the album is about a artificially made human. That is why this is under 'science fiction'.

Scanned piece by piece with a scanner and pieced together with paint.

Mutter Belongs to Rammstein.

Very nice picture!
But the song isn't about an artificially made human.
its about an aborted child, singing about how it never had a mother.
Hense saying it never got anyone to mother it

I remember the band member talking about the song on the Videos 1995- 2011, and they said that it's about test-tube child. That's why the lyrics go ''I have no navel on my belly'', even if some kid got aborted and somehow survived, it would still have the navel. ย

Gave his son nightmares? WOW.

Not much ''WOW'' here, it's understandeable if his kid is like 0-12 years old. And come on, it's a dead fetus, of course it will give bad nightmares to a child.

This is a painting? Whoa! For a moment, I thought it was a photograph. Love the texture and tones on the skin.

A few people have been saying so. I'm really glad it has enough realism and resemblance to the original, that it appears to be a photograph.

You did a great job! I love that cover but I can see why it would give someone nightmares, it is pretty creepy...

I have had a couple nightmares myself. Very awkward and morbid dreams.

what are the dimensions of this?

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

ButcherHook In reply to gaviD [2008-11-25 02:51:28 +0000 UTC]

The measurements are written on the back of the actual painting. In order to take the painting down, I would have to move the television and ect. Which would be a pain in the ass. So, I am gonna make a rough estimate. It is about as big as an average kitchen table.

This is great. I love how you painted the structure and the volume of the face. Along with the the desaturated grays of the face it looks great.
I'm just curious, did you use a dry brush to get those thicker lines on the skin of the face?

ButcherHook In reply to rabbitears [2008-11-25 01:17:57 +0000 UTC]

The grays of the face is what makes it such a beauty.

Indeed I did, and I am also happy I did.

Oh okay, I thought so but I wasn't sure. It's a great affect, it really adds to the strange beauty of it.

It has a kind of creepy awesome-ness to it.

Having just had a baby myself (well, my wife did the pushing) a few months ago, I can really say it looks like a 3d ultrasound (in a good way). It's a really good piece.

Thank you very much.

I really liked how the art had a nice sense of darkness, but in the same way a strong sense of beauty.

Many thanks.

I may sell it, but for the moment I want to keep it in my living room since it adds more life to it.
