I imagine this happened a bit like this:

Kaspian was casually out for a stroll or going about his business (he's fairly quiet) when poor Calum accidently bumped into him, apologising immediately for having not heard him. Being in a bad temper and not realising his (lack of) sight condition, Kaspian attempts a curse to place thorns over Calum's top. Obviously this backfires and immediately surrounds him in fragrant flowers. Calum misunderstands this and thanks him sincerely for his kind gesture. Annoyed, Kaspian continues to seek revenge for a while, each time inevitably doing something nice so he eventually gives up. Calum has since become adjusted to recognising Kaspian, and prompts a friendship. Sure Calum's a little clumsy with his blindness, and sure he likes to talk about pathetic non-magic stuff, and sure his adoptive mom's are uh … actually really scary. Kaspian ruN- but other than that, he's a sweet guy and Kaspian can't help but liking him back c:
