Mario recolors aren't even notrious at all.
In fact, the SMG4 Fandom has an unhealty attachment to them(seriously) and in the SM64Bloopers the 64 graphics distract you from the fact that bloopers are technically fan AUs with Mayro OCs.
Seriously, seeing people hate the recolors(if if most of them are poorly written but thats for differemt reasons) JUST because they're Mario OCs is nonexistent.

Recolors.
Bases give you a general idea, and help you form completely new ideas.
Meanwhile, recolors are cheap knock-offs that a lazy, 10 year old, rabid fanboy/girl of something decided that he wanted to create an " Original Character " by re-coloring the hair and clothes a different color and calling it " art ".

Probably Recolors, at least in my opinion. Base characters at least have original designs, recolor characters are just a character that had its color changed and maybe a few designs, but you can tell that itβs a recolor in 3 seconds. I guarantee.

I used to recolors on screenshots with Microsoft Paint back in 2000's before I have my DA account but now I no longer recolors. I realized now that recolors is a stupid thing to do.

I don't like it when people say "Recolors are stealing!", because even though that is a true statement, I feel it's better to explain the reasoning, "You can't get better if you don't stop using bases and recolors." Because that/other statements that encourage a change in format will help a young artist to change their view on what they're doing. People who recolor bases and other art may feel like their art isn't good enough to express their ideas and creativity. I feel this kinder approach is more effective.

I disagreed with you at first, but your reasoning was really solid. Ranting at young re-color-artists for stealing will only make them feel bad and discourage them from drawing altogether.
