It's WTF Friday.
This is... uh...
This is the first time I've ever been truly ashamed of drawing something. Like, not 'this picture is of poor quality' ashamed, but deep, soul-scarring shame. I-can-never-scrub-hard-enough-to-clean-away-the-dirt shame.
Anyway, this stems from something that really, really disturbed me as a kid; anthro animals owning pet animals. When I was a young girl, I owned this book... a little Minnie Mouse picture book, about her and her friend's new puppy. The thing that really, REALLY freaked me out was the fact that her friend was a dog. It was a dog owning a dog.
I just couldn't get my head around it... it was so unnerving. Was the pet dog a slave? Was it considered a lesser being for some reason, and subjected to such treatment? Was it a dog of lower iq, and therefore destined to be the plaything of some sociopathic child?????? What sort of dystopian future was this??!!???
Yeah, I dwelled on this a bit too much for a six-year-old... or maybe not enough. Don't give me that 'they're just the unevolved versions of the anthro animals, like monkeys and humans' excuse. No, there's something far more sick at play here... far, far more disturbed.

I don't mind animal-people owning animals, as long as those animals are a different species. Dogs owning dogs IS weird.
This picture, however, is some serious nightmare fuel. You weren't kidding.
It reminds me of a short film I saw once. After some kind of military/nuclear fallout, there isn't enough food or supplies to go around (or electricity or tv or anything else). One suburban family is very isolated and trying to get by. A man in a crude dog suit (like, fuzzy pajamas and socks for ears) shows up at their front door, barking, on all fours, acting like a dog. They are freaked out at first... but because they are bored and lonely and desperate they start treating him like the family dog (he never talks, always acts like a dog). Until days after starving, the father goes a bit nuts and shoots the man in the dog suit. When his family asks why he tells them "They eats dogs in [asian country, I forget which], don't they?". End of film.

did you ever see that episode of Arthur where the characters were all watching a show that was just like Arthur with uglier animation, and Brain (what sort of animal is he supposed to be, anyway?) was like, "If everyone in this world is an animal, do they serve bugs and seeds in the school cafeteria? And how come they still have pet dogs?" It was so, so many meta-levels of weird.

Brain is a bear, I think... though who knows... Arthur is an aardvark, but has no long nose, so... who knows? lol
That was a funny one, Arthur was confused as to what animal the main character was "he's not a rat, he's a... something, I forget" And Francine suggested that the dog would eat the main character in real life. lol
