Another page of Turbo sketches from my sketchbook. This little guy managed to worm his way back into my sketchbook and I couldn't resist posting. I was planning on releasing them in individual pictures, but as the scanner and I had a duel and I inevitably got my tail kicked, that wasn't happening.Also, a little head canon explanation.
I like to think that the inhabitants of TT are all different heights, and while I usually believe Turbo to be the shortest, the younger twin's habits of being absolutely precious in all the fics I've read eventually led to his manifestation as practically dinky. Though as you might notice, Turbo and the elder twin, be it Set, Ted or any other name, seem to be the same height. That is very easily explained.

Oh gosh I love his hair, I can only see Turbo with a mohawk so it's perfect.

Aww, thank you so much! It took forever to get his hair right, but I agree, that's the only way I see his hair being too. Windswept, yet with a degree of helmet hair in parts. Usually Turbo's the shortest in most of my personal head canon as well, but the smaller twin ended up being so cute I didn't have the heart to change him. Plus, he gave me so ideas, so in the end I'm happy I made him so small.

No, no, the elder twin is SET. Jet is the younger one. Actually...I think they're the same age, Jet just acts younger XD I'm confusing myself now

Aww, don't feel bad about that. The twins were in, what, one chapter of Ghost Boy? I can't exactly get mad if people don't perfectly remember the one scene I wrote of them XD; I was just kidding around anyways.

You draw him so much better than I can like I can't even. I've been unhappy from the start with my style of drawing Turbo, but yours looks like him AND still seems cute and young enough. So kudos to you!

Oh yes. Quite a lot, actually. It's really well written, the story progresses and flows, the characters are believable and relatable, not to mention following certain aspects of canon without rigidly sticking to them alone, and overall it's quite an enjoyable read. Ooh, really? Sweet sauce, now I know I'm getting a great Christmas present for sure!

I do admit I have a lot of improvement to do before I think I can do him justice, but hearing that is really, really wonderful and gives me oodles of inspiration and motivation. I really do like your Turbo, though. He is quite cute and innocent and I think he needs a lot of hugs.

I've hit a couple of roadblocks, mainly with emotional content...since I'm sure you know what this next chapter has to be about...and also with trying to describe how much Turbo was glitching without getting redundant. It gets to the point where I'm like, "Screw it. TURBO WAS GLITCHING LIKE A MOFO. There, genius writing!"

I've so been there when I've been writing. You have no idea how hard that made me laugh when I read that. I understand completely what you mean. Descriptors are fun and do add a certain flavor, but there comes a point when it's really tempting to write 'it was big as all get out' and just let that sit there.
Well, to be fair, he IS downright huggable in the fic, but I can see what your concern is. Though, while I think he is quite sweet, I wouldn't say that he's overly cutesy or anything. And, I could see people calling him names just for the sake of doing so, and I do think his sad expressions you've done do show quite well through both the story and the art accompanying it.

Well, the new chapter is up now, in case you somehow missed it! And I managed to get through the whole thing without mentioning Turbo's mofo levels of glitching. Mission accomplished! Gawd, repeating descriptions are hard to work with.
Oh good, I was hoping that I hadn't completely destroyed him with my cutesyfying. Actually, no one seems to mind how I portrayed him in the fic. I've had people say that they hated his guts in the movie, but then they read Ghost Boy and went, "Aww, he's a likeable, sympathetic character after all!" So I must be doing something right. XD I guess I'll just keep writing the way that I have been, and keep drawing until I've found a style that I'm happy with! And thanks every so much for your kind words

I quite like him the way he's portrayed in the fic as well. He's given more dimensions and motivation than you usually see with these sorts of things and it really delves into the mystique of who Turbo really is. That's extremely refreshing to read, let me tell you. And I'm thrilled to hear that! You write him incredibly well and I can't wait to see what you've in store for us. And you're incredibly welcome and believe me when I say, you deserve every word.

Nah, I'm just tellin' it like it is. Anyway, I just finished reading your fic's latest installment, and let me tell you, that one was quite a doozy. I understand now why you said earlier you couldn't discuss that subject for fear of spoilers and let me tell you, I felt myself tearing up about halfway through. Listening to 'Broken Karted' while reading that chapter is the best recipe for waterworks I've seen in a while. And the ending... woo, nelly. Things have gotten real bad real fast for poor Turbo.

Wow, that chapter plus Broken Karted? I'll have to try that out, sounds pretty effective. Anyways, believe it or not, those weren't even the spoilers that I was referring to...well, not all of them, anyway. The rest will be discussed throughout the story. Also, if this chapter made you tear up, then you might want to get a box of tissues when I post the next one. Judging by what I'm planning to have happen in it, it might be...a bit much. Hey, we were just talking about how dark this movie really is, I'm only fitting the tone!

If you're thinking what I think you're thinking, it's probably not THAT traumatic, and also it might be better suited to me saving it for the climax (which we aren't close to yet, by the way) but it still....well, let's just say it falls into the Don Bluth postulate of "you can torture your protagonist as much as you want to as long as there's a happy ending!" I don't do that a heck of a lot, but for this story, I'm making an exception.

Ah, I see. I suppose my overactive and very vivid imagination cut me to the quick. While I am very happy to hear we aren't near the climax yet (this is too good to end!), I am rather curious over whether or not I'm thinking what you're thinking I'm thinking. Aha, the Don Bluth school of animation stories, I should've known. This story has Bluth all over it in spades. Still, since I am a fan of the Secret of Nimh, this should bode well. But... *sniff* poor Turbo...

You should tell me what you're thinking so that I know if I'm thinking what you're thinking, because honestly this has really piqued my curiosity now! And yes, we have several chapters to go before the climax, especially since these chapters keep turning out longer than I thought so they inevitably get split up into more chapters, and the whole thing gets stretched out. Gotta love Don Bluth! And yes, poor Turbo indeed...you'll be saying that double during the next chapter...

I would divulge what's flying through my head, but I have a couple qualms about doing so. What if, on the off chance, that I'm right and I've accidentally stumbled upon your grand master plan? That wouldn't be good because I wouldn't want to a) ruin it for anyone else, b) make it so you change your plan BECAUSE I've stumbled upon it, or c) find spoilers for myself, since I like finding out at the time of the chapter's release. Things are better when waited for, I think. And, then there's the other possibility that I may be WRONG, and if I am wrong and tell you what horrible things and scenarios are flying through the catacombs known as my brainstorming center and that gives you ideas as a result and you use them on the poor thing to the point that he's in ruins, I've just become an accessory to protagonist torture. As you can see, my dilemma is quite the catch 22.
Ah yes, Don Bluth. Adding nightmare fuel to my life starting at age 2 and going. Y'know, I'm starting to get even more worried about Turbo than before now that you've just said that.

I won't tell you whether or not your idea is correct or incorrect (unless it's waaaaaay off) but if you really are so perturbed about possibly revealing spoilers to others, you could always note me instead of posting it here. Also, the plot of Ghost Boy is set in stone from here til the end of the fic. I won't be changing it for anything now, and certainly not to incorporate large amounts of protagonist torture, especially since Turbo already has a lot to cope with in the upcoming sections of this story. If it makes you feel any better, just remember what I said about the happy ending!

Well, as long as a) you don't tell me if I'm right or wrong and B) even if I am right, no one will know and the plot doesn't change, that'd be okay then if I said what I thought might happen. It wasn't that I was overly perturbed by the idea of spoilers, but I didn't want to be that one person who shouted the spoilers of a movie right in the theatre so everyone was sure to hear. That wouldn't be cool of me whatsoever.
As for what I'm thinking might happen, now that the truth is out and Turbo knows about what happening in SR, and that other consciousness inside his head is now getting more vocal, I'm a little concerned that now that the other entity is awake, it's gonna start running all over the place in his body, like a self possessing body snatcher. And the KC entity will start doing all sorts of terrible things while in control and Turbo'll get the blame, though it isn't his fault that his body decided to go for a test drive with him in the trunk. I mean, what if he ends up trying to kill Vanellope? And then snaps right back out of it just before the deal is sealed and she's almost dead? How horrifying would that be? And, if the possession control gets to be so strong he can't fight it, what if Turbo decides that the only way to destroy KC is to destroy himself, because one can't exist without the other. It'd be just like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, only way worse. Or, then there's the other possibility that while the entity might only live in his coding consciousness, that doesn't mean it'll stay there. What if his code copies itself and graphs the other consciousness onto it, like a programmed bout of mitosis? Then you'd have two of them running around, one sweet and innocent who wouldn't hurt a fly, and the other who well... we've proven how crazy he is just with the film alone. Then no one would know who was who and thus who to get rid of. With any of these scenarios, I could definitely see a showdown in the code room or something to that degree, be it a physical confrontation or one inside his head.
That's just a taste of what's going through my brain.
And yes, I am holding onto that 'happy ending' notion very tightly. He's gonna need it if things are gonna get worse.

You deserve a round of applause for that because you have stumbled upon several elements of my headcanon in that explanation. However, per the spoiler-free agreement, I will not tell you which parts of the story you got right and which you got wrong. I can tell you that whatever conflict may be the true one, it will be briefly touched upon in the next chapter and come up more strongly towards the end. The reason why you're gonna need a box of tissues next time is because you will feel baaaad for Turbo. I might have to warn everybody about that, actually.

To quote 'Weird Al' Yankovic, "Aw man, I hate it when I'm right." Thank you for not telling me what I was right on, though. It's much more fun to discover it as time goes on. Still, if any of my ideas were as accurate as you inferred, I suddenly just got incredibly worried about Turbo, more than I had before, and that's saying something. I'm actually a little scared for him right now, poor thing. I mean, it was bad enough what happened at the Royal Raceway track, but this getting worse and worse... hoo boy. Poor guy.
