Description
Yargh, I have no idea how long this took to finish, but it's finally done. Hoorah. I think I had to recolour this bad boy at least four times, for various reasons, so the fact that it's done now is exhilarating. As earlier mentioned, here are the secondary player characters from Turbotime X, complete with a little head canon.Head canon:
Name: Enzo
Rank: Player Two
Suit Colour: Green
Mini Game: Gasoline Chem Lab
Aptly nicknamed 'Mister Grumpy Face', Enzo isn't exactly what people would call 'sociable'. No one should take it personally though. He's not exactly antagonistic, he's just preoccupied with the millions of ideas spawning in his mind to realize how curt and cranky he comes across. Not that he would care if he did know, though. Many have been convinced that he's glaring in their direction, though a lot of the time, he's not. He's too busy mulling over things in his head to be bothered with acknowledging they're there in the first place.
Besides, if he was glaring, they'd know. Their heads would be smoking husks from the intensity of the death glare, but they would know.
If anyone wants to see him truly in foul spirits, the best way to do that is to either interrupt one of his experiments in the basement or worse, fail his mini game that results in either him throwing the player out, or having the entire lab explode in his face.
However, if one completes his chemical gasoline mini game on a positive note, the fuel created will improve the performance of the kart to the point that it is nearly impossible for the other CPUs to beat and will result in a practically ensured victory for the chosen sprite.
Even though he's technically the second player when it comes to the racing mechanics of the game, Enzo would be much happier if left to his own devices, tucked away in his gasoline lab in the basement where no one would be bugging him. However, when on the track, he is quite a force to be reckoned with and won't lose easily.
Don't be deterred though by his distinctly curt disposition. He's extremely knowledgable about a great many things, given the access he gets through the wifi connection and is very competent at his different fuel combinations. He's also a rather talented racer, though not as much as Player One, and he'll deliver the goods if chosen to race.
Just don't expect him to be personable about it.
Hobbies include: Reading, Experimentation with all sorts of objects in order to find out their composition, Sarcastic commentary, muttering and firing Petrol out of a catapult.
Special Notes:
Often enjoys the company of various animals, upon which he then reduces to a pile of goo over his furry friends.
Will never admit it, though.
Name: Gauge
Rank: Player Three
Suit Colour: Blue
Mini Game: Demolition Derby
If given the choice between racing on the track or blowing the whole sucker up, Gauge would probably always choose the latter. An expert in anything pyrotechnical, Gauge runs the Demolition Derby, a mini game that includes lacing the track with various degrees of explosives and then setting them off while players maneuver through the track at breakneck speed. It's a game definitely not for a beginner, but oh so fun in his mind. Though, it does create quite a mess, and while he revels in all the debris, he doesn't particularly like listening to Petrol nagging at him like a little old lady to get it cleaned up, so there is somewhat of a downside.
On the track as a racer, Gauge isn't as interested as either Turbo JX or Enzo to win or at least go really fast, but still is fair enough in terms of talent to not be left off the roster. Whether or not he's bothered though is usually the main deciding factor over whether or not he does well. The only way to really get him motivated is to hang a bag of fritos underneath the finish line's gate. Then he'll get there in record time.
Of course, that's the prize if one wins his mini game, so in the end, he doesn't really lose any of his beloved corn chips.
Probably the strangest thing about Gauge, besides the fascination with fireworks and a lifelong devotion to fritos, is that his absolutely deadpan demeanor is enough to make one reel. He'll make comments and conjectures with a half asleep expression and inflectionless voice, it's hard to differentiate between when he's joking and when he's serious.
When not racing on one of the tracks, or more importantly, not seeing if he can blast the suspension bridge into the stands, Gauge spends his time lying about, working on the various bits of equipment around that need fixing, fine tuning the instruments and narrating his downtime around the main lair, to the annoyance and amusement of the other three flatmates, depending on the roomie in question.
Hobbies include: fixing up the spare parts lying around, creating explosives, blowing up said explosives, watching Enzo fire Petrol out of a catapult, making deadpan jokes, reading, losing things and then finding them in weird places, and eating fritos.
Special Note: In his spare time, he writes poetry.
Really bad poetry.
And then recites it.
Name: Petrol
Rank: Player Four
Suit Colour: Yellow
Mini Game: Bolt Gun Target Shooting
Possibly the least competitive of the sprites, all Petrol would like more than anything is a nice, relatively quiet existence where he would be appreciated for all the little things he does around the game and behind the scenes. However, given his game mates obliviousness to anything other than the big picture and their constant tendencies for loud explosions, it's highly unlikely he'll ever get it.
Unlike the other three, Petrol is exceedingly neat and tidy, and does try to keep what corners of the game as clean as he can manage, but that generally doesn't last long.
Let's just say that it lasts so long that Turbo JX doesn't track mud, oil, or other things into the main room of the lair, or Enzo doesn't leave his things like a slug's slime trail in his wake, and of course, let's not forget Gauge not fulfilling his chosen calling in life by either blowing up the game or leaving frito crumbs on the sofa.
Sometimes Petrol can't tell what's worse.
He's voiced his complaints in the past several times, but usually that results in him getting flung out of a catapult, so as of recently he's found other ways of getting his point across.
Like shooting a wayward sock out of midair into the side of the wall, sort of protests.
Speaking of which, Petrol may not be the strongest racer, but when it comes to his mini game, no one does it finer. Armed with only a bolt gun and a dream, Petrol runs the target practice mini game, a game that has another racer zoom through the track with him perched on the back fender and shoot the targets all along the course. Overall, it's a good game for those interested in gaining different power ups that drop when the targets are hit. The further off the target, the better the power up.
Off the track, Petrol is a very quiet sweet little boy, who might be a little obtuse to what's going on in the grand scheme of things, but at least he won't walk into the gigantic pipe that's right in front of him like the others would.
Hobbies include: Cleaning things, running around, target practice with his bolt shooter, nagging the other racers, playing with the butterflies that linger around the track and avoiding being flung out of a catapult.
Special Note: Due to his long hair and rather high voice, he frequently gets mistaken for a girl.
He does not appreciate the sentiment much.
