Going off of this style for the skin is there anything else to make the skin more vampiric looking? Like are there any light blue colors you might throw in to give it that sort of vampire pail color?

Sorry for my very late reply. O__O;;;
I would suggest maybe using a VERY pale skin shade (like E00), and adding blue-ish colors like B60, BV23, and anything from the Grey category (I guess warm or cool grey would depend on the situation).

Need to invest in a colorless blender and some nice skin tones soon; this tutorial makes me want to start using Copics again.
Sorry if somebody asked you already, but what exact paper do you use? I use Copic paper that's in this sketchbook thing, but I've found the paper extremely thin, easy to rip, bends from the moisture from my fingertips, etc. :< Thanks in advance.
Oh and nice tutorial, I love your coloring. *A*

bybystarlight In reply to poopingfish [2010-08-05 18:03:46 +0000 UTC]
Ah, thank you for the wonderful comments. ^_^;; I'm glad you were able to use this tutorial.
Bristol board works great if you're having too much moisture; it's thick, so you won't get that kind of problem (I don't like to use it, though many people do). Thick cardstock that you can find in craft supply stores (like in the scrapbooking section) works well enough--it definitely shouldn't rip on you or bleed. Japanese comic paper also seems to work well (I use this one the most). It's quite thin, but doesn't seem to absorb moisture so much that it rips. O__O;;
I hope this helps. Please do let me know if I can answer anything else for you. Good luck~!!!! I'd love to see some of your copic works.

Thank you. :> The paper I use is perfectly fine, no bleeding or anything like that, it's just it's so delicate XD

Cardstock from any kind of craft supply store works well. Bristol board works well, too (though I don't like to use it); many people use this with great results. What I like to use, though, is Japanese comic manuscript paper.
It's always best to try and see what works best for yourself, though, because everyone's preferences are different. Goodluck~!!

Well this will be a late comment xD
but anyway, such a great tutorial... It makes me want to go and use my forgotten markers. Ohh by the way, one question. How do you do the lineart o.o? Do you just draw it with a mechanincal pencil? Cause it looks so clean !

Uhm...I started out drawing the lineart with mechanical pencil, but then I inked over it with Japanese nib pens. I'm not that great at it, so I'm surprised you say it looks clean~!! THANK YOU SO MUCH~!!
