Description Update 8 - Added new style with a 24px Taskbar
Update 7 - Font change from Arial to SegoeUI
Update 6 - Changed the color of the taskbar text to white
Update 5 - Some people have requested that I include both the old version of Lucent (without borders) along with the new one (with borders). The old version of Lucent still has and will always have the gap at the top of web browsers because there's no way to fix that.
Update 4 - Borders are now lined up correctly for all browsers
Update 3 - Now with alternative images for the navigation buttons ( see them in the preview )
Update 2 - The small taskbar background is now fixed
Update 1 - Theme now displays under installed themes correctly as " Lucent"

My version of a minimalistic Windows 7 Style

This visual style is displayed best with the "Frost" color at 0% transparency as it appears in the preview

Included:
-Lucent Visual Style ( without borders)
-Lucent Visual Style ( with borders)

-Alternative Navigation Buttons
-Fonts

Not Included

-Winamp - Gaia 10 mod by me - Download Lucent for winamp here

-Led Cinema Display

Instructions

2. Install the theme
Copy the "Lucent" folder and Lucent.msstyle to your themes directory: "C:\Windows\Resources\Themes\" (the path may vary depending on your OS)

humm allso i woudl say that the "show desktop" button is kinda non existent, and maybe just adding a faint white would help,

There doesn't need to be a white bar for you to know where the show desktop button is, it's always going to be in the corner of the screen.

You would need a program like Vista Style Builder to change anything you mentioned.

I really like this theme but unfortunately I got some weird issues:
[link]

In Firefox below the close button sometime the theme is just transparent. It is a little bit grey and this issue happens to me sometimes and it disappears sometimes, too.
The second "problem" is that there is a white bar at the position of the tabs in Chrome and FF. This isn't so bad and it isn't apparent

h82k In reply to h82k [2012-08-10 13:12:11 +0000 UTC]

Btw I have 64bit SP1, someone below me writes that it wouldn't work but for me it works

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

C---M In reply to h82k [2012-08-10 18:26:10 +0000 UTC]

You are using the borderless theme, there's another one in there with borders and that will get rid of the problem.

h82k In reply to C---M [2012-08-11 11:17:05 +0000 UTC]

I tried both versions:

The left picture is borderless, the right one with borders...

C---M In reply to h82k [2012-08-11 20:25:00 +0000 UTC]

That problem might come up if you have a theme applied to firefox and chrome.

h82k In reply to C---M [2012-08-12 13:00:37 +0000 UTC]

It happens even if i haven't enabled any plugin/theme/personas. It is propably somehow my fault, it works for everyone
I don't want to bother you the whole time
But could you please tell me whats the name of the photo application, it looks really nice

dysgenics [2012-08-08 23:34:02 +0000 UTC]

to get rid of that black at the top and have it all transparent like the preview, "show shadows under windows" must be enabled in your system properties > advanced > performance options

By far my favorite Windows 7 custom style, cheers !

I'm however getting a small problem I do hope you'll help me to solve !
[link] << As you can see, there's a big dark grey top bar when opening windows/folders instead of the soft transparent one as displayed in your picture but I have the same settings as in the picture tho

I also don't have the choice between the bordered and the borderless theme in the theme selection window, just one option: Lucent, which give me the borderless one.

Thanks a bunch again !

Gorgeous theme, nicely done! My only gripe is that it's so difficult to see which file(s) is selected in Windows Explorer. Any possibility of getting this fixed?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

C---M In reply to fojji [2012-08-07 20:03:23 +0000 UTC]

Try lowering the brightness or contrast in your desktop color settings. My brightness is set to 50%, anything over 60% would make it invisible.

I really like it! But there is one major thing that erks me. It doesn't play well with Chrome at all. Whether minimized or maximized there is always a white portion protruding at the top. Please fix!

for those that like the progress bars in taskbar in 7, this style looks equally kickass with them. I won't post how to do it here, as its not what the artist wants from this style (i think), but it looks great.

Great style C--M !

There is an issue with the way you draw the windows glass. There is a big white rectangle in the up middle.

This picture will show you a screenshot from the foobar2000 i use (Absolut Glass 3 by Steric). I juste launch it with no playlist or music enabled, so you can see only the glass, on a black wallpaper for better understanding : [link]

I can see this rectangle in firefox too if i use the glassmyfox plugin.

Please work it a little bit.

Nice, thank you to share it
I use it on W7 64 bits, it's fine.

But please provide us another way to change the navigation buttons, since the tool you have linked doesn't work on W764 since SP1 :/

Very strange indeed, because i used to change the arrows with this tool too, till SP1.

yooomie In reply to elefanc [2012-08-01 21:13:44 +0000 UTC]

idk if i used it before sp1 but im using it now with sp1 wihtout probs any time. did you take ownership and the rights to change explorerframe.dll in system32 ?(also do it with the one in syswow64 if you're using 64bit version of windows.)

I like it, it's different.

The only problem i have is that it doesn't get along well with Firefox and Opera when in full screen. It messes up the windows top bars, even without themes applied to firefox.

Screen captures :

Firefox Glass Onion Dawn : [link]

Opera Glass Onion Dawn : [link]

Firefox Lucent : [link]

Opera Lucent : [link]

Great work though!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

C---M In reply to t3kno [2012-08-02 00:02:35 +0000 UTC]

The borders for web browsers and normal windows are affected differently so there's no way to make them both equal without adding huge borders. I originally wanted no borders at all for this theme but since everyone had a problem with the way Firefox and Chrome looked, I had to add a few pixels to the right and left. Chrome is lined up for me but it's just the light color that makes it appear off by a little bit. If it looks like it’s off by more than one pixel then it might be the theme you applied to Chrome or you didn't download the new update.
