oh, now things become interesting because of my english skills.
this sculpture is not made out of clay, it is plaster (the stuff a doctor puts on a broken arm ).
In general you have to use simply a plaster that is made for sculpturing. This kinds of plasters are characterized by the fact that they stay mouldable for a long time period and are softer than normal plaster after hardening. I bought the plaster in a store for building materials (they normally have also special labeled sculpturing plaster), it's much cheaper there than in the stores for art materials (25 kg for under 20$ if I remember it properly).

oh, thank you so much - it took me so long to do this, but I loved the working process (the most time :-D). I hope I can do another sometimes
