Yup.
There's nothing i can do when they tell me things like "i dun like the way you overlay her cloak over the background", "she isn't supposed to look like that", etc.
These are not constructive feedbacks which i could have done anything about.
I'll accept technical and anatomy pointers, but not things like personal preference.
People who say these kind of stuff are usually non-artist/designer/fanartist, or simply art thieves who just edit awesome pieces and call it their own, or basically use it wholesale.

Though expecting people to do something about their work simply cos one doesn't like it, is not exactly right, but if ever you think there are any ways which they can improve their work, tell them by all means.

Well, like you yourself said, it isn't too late to start, so I guess you'll improve in no time if you try hard.
Having no guidance is hard, so I guess I learnt it the hard way... Ahahaha... I wish I could get a slot in a manga class, soon.

I would suggest, rather than going for manga classes, you can instead browse for manga with awesome drawings (i like artists like Oh!Great and Obata Takeshi). Observe these drawings, take note of their key points, figure out yourself why the artist did what they did.
Basically learn thru observation.
Not everything requires money.
Some bad things about manga classes are:
-expensive
-fellow classmates may not be really serious abt it, and do stupid things which affects the whole class
-the whole class would eventually be inclined to the teacher's style and methods, restricting their own potential.
Instead u should save up money to invest in softwares like Photoshop, and hardwares like Wacom Tablets, or a scanner if you dun have one yet.
There are lots of free tutorials, tips and trick you can find for free online.

Hmm good idea...That's how I started out initially, but I thought a manga class would help me better... Somehow.
Oh! Great has VERY nice art style... My own personal favourites are doujinka like Negahyst, KOMEYA, SatouMizu and JET MONSTER... For some reason, I prefer doujinka drawings...
Those points you typed down makes sense, I'll ponmder more about the matter then.
To add on, I don't think I can even fork out the time to attend those classes, unless you are talking about the holidays, I'm pretty much packed in school. Being a Express Student isn't nice... Ugh.

But i totally lost it and started drawing during classes, which i dun suggest you do the same.
Then i gave up my chance to go JC, to do animation in Nanyang Poly.
At least till now, i didn't regret what i did.

My parents are against the fact that I want a poly course... I'm still above average in my class, so I guess I'm still okay... I do start doddling in class, provided its History or it's a free period... Haha XDDDD

What do you mean by saying you are aiming for an art course?
Art as in those JCs' Arts or Sciences, or do you mean the really arty farty kind of art?
If you wanna go to a design course you have to be mentally prepared, it's not as fun and glamorous as how the general public sees it.
I'm a designer who does animation and other various things.
Rice bowl eventually weighs more than anything when you are older...
