Time for Super Sonic
I didn't really change Super Sonic's design much other than how I'd already changed Sonic's design to begin with. The most I've done is tip his quils with red and have it that the excess power is ripping apart his gloves and socks.
I actually don't like Super Sonic, if only because he's such an "Insta-win button". And let's face it; Super Sonic is just Super Saiyan and the whole "We gotta collect the Chaos Emeralds!" is just collecting dragonballs. You know it's true!! The whole Super Sonic idea is just really weird to me, but it's been around since the second game so it's a pretty well-established concept and there's no real getting away from it.
However, personally I feel there SHOULD be a downside to being ultra powerful and untouchable and pretty much invincible and able to win everything instantly. Although I never really read them, I always liked the Fleetway idea that Super Sonic is in fact this really psychotic mutherfucker who is useful and needed when the time calls for it, but who is also malicious and extremely destructive. It gives the insane power a heavy downside which would give characters a reason to not use it all the friggen time to win everything instantly. (because if there is no downside, why NOT use it all the time for everything?)
In my setting, Super Sonic isn't exactly psychotic or malicious, but he is more a force of nature. He is destructive and extremely powerful, but he is also completely neutral as to what or who he does damage to and has no concept of collateral damage. There is no sense of heroism or sadism or being drunk on power. it's just emotionless destruction focused on a specific target. And even then the target in question is usually rather broad. Anything within that area is considered fair game.
Also, because of this soulless power, every time it's used, it gets a little harder to revert back to a 100%. Your personality might not suffer, but you're going to feel some heavy after-effects which could be emotional or physical or both depending on how much power was used and what it was used for.
And of course, using it for too long and using too much power is an easy way to get yourself killed. Heck using the power at all is a gamble as to whether you'll be able to survive when you revert back. It's very easy to just drain yourself of all life without realising it until the power dissipates again.
Also.. Chaos Crystals.
Because "Emeralds" makes no damn sense whatsoever to me. So fuck that.

It's not the right style I wanted it to be. But I didn't spend a lot of time on it either and didn't have a clear plan in mind with how I wanted it to look when I started. Oh well. It's not bad. I just wish it was better.Enjoy!

At that much power, I'd imagine that his gloves/shoes would actually be destroyed at the ensuing energy that is consuming out from him, leaving him Naked; the raw visage of being a God.

True, butt even still there are differences between super sonic and super saiyan, sonic needs the emeralds to transform while Goku doesn't need the dragon balls to transform, also super saiyan has extra levels(which in my opinion was kinda stupid).

Okay, still cool picture though. ps ive noticed that you made sonics arms the same color as his fur, which isint a bad thing but im curious about something, do hedgehogs in real life have fur on thier arms? cuz most pictures of them ive seen on the google images they dont seem to

I don't know, I think this actually works fine. I mean, making a wish on the Dragon Balls does whatΒ the userΒ said, nothing more, nothing less, when Sonic uses the Emeralds for their purpose, they might not be there when he truly needs them later, and they, in themselves, are neutral, so anyone who knows how can and will use them, good or bad. I think the price is that when he uncovers the emeralds for use, even one at a time, there's a huge chance that anyone else can get them, and use that same power. I think Super Sonic should stay how it is, since the Emeralds themselves hold the price for it already. They, themselves, turn the world on it's side, I see no reason not to have a payoff for whoever keeps them long enough.

I have to say, for somebody that is not a huge Sonic fan, I do like how you have a better sense of creativity than 95% of the fandom.

Haha! Thanks so much XD I think the creativity comes from frustration to be honest. I can see such potential in the Sonic Franchise, but it never seems to take the steps it could, choosing to go a different way instead. I guess I just want to show how in my mind I would've liked things to be. But that's just me.

I know that feel. But I have to admit, Sega has been slowly, but surely rectifying the damage caused in 2006. (dayum, it's hard to believe that that was 8 years ago. I feel old.) This may be the game that makes me buy a Wii U. Sega, I pray to god you don't fuck this up. Or you sir will have to hope you can bring back JSR good enough to warrant me begging mah folks for cash.

I have to say I love your design for both Sonic and Super and I also love the negatives you gave Super.
Chaos Crystals is also a much cooler and coherent title for the gems than Emeralds but I also like the Archie Evil-Mobius name for them, Anarchy Beryl (Chaos Gemstones).
The only thing I really have to add to this is that I think Sonic could have some clothes on. I know his genitals aren't visible but he's not a mindless animal. I think all the mobians should at least have pants on.
For someone like Sonic I think he's only have pants and go shirtless most of the time or an open vest. Pants-wise he's probably go with jeans or cargo pants.

Ya know, I never realized how cheap Super Sonic was until you pointed it out. I never minded the obvious "Super Saiyan" thing, but now that you mention it, aside from the Fleetway comics that I never read, there's really never anyΒ downside to Sonic going Super Saiyan. Hell, if he had the Chaos Emeralds with him all the time, there'd be no story ever. |D He'd just kill everything all the time. Maybe that's why they made it so friggin' easy for him to lose the goddamned things. CX
So the idea that the Chaos Emeralds - or Chaos Crystals, whichΒ sounds cooler and makes more sense;Β I agree with ya that I never understood the "Emerald" title =IΒ - making him a completely neutral force as a downside to ultimate power, as well as the risk of death or loss of personality,Β would not only be super fascinating, but make up for the instant God-Mode Sonic can go into at will. =3
Anyway, art wise, this has to be one of your best works in my opinion. The soulless expression in Super Sonic's eyes and the sheer uncertainty, borderline fear, in normal Sonic's is subtle, but pretty dang effective. You can really feel the tension and nervousness in the normally confident hedgehog's demeanor; like he knows he risks dying and/or losingΒ part of himselfΒ to ultimate power by going Super Saiyan Sonic, but that he's still pretty tempted for whatever reason.
Beautiful concept, and equally beautiful artwork. =3 Keep up the good work! I can't wait to see what you come up with next.

I love Sonic's look of awe with the chaos emeralds and I see your point regarding Super Sonic being to powerful aside from him getting pushed back too much/running out of rings he has no weaknesses but oh well.At leash it's not too common in the games.
