"Something feels.... ......wrong..."Fangirls are always meanest to the characters they like most. It's the truth. I'm not sure why
Being mean to Discord is interesting because, seeing as he's an immortal metaphysical representation of an abstract idea, being "mean" to him is a little trickier. So it makes me have to stretch my imagination a little bit.
.....So... in case it isn't clear.. ..that is not a good situation up there.. although I have no idea what's happening XD This is one of those "make up your own stories" kind of pictures.
I purposefully went with a harsher yellow than I normally use (why do I use so much yellow in my art??)

How do you feel about this beautiful piece turning canon some time later? Cause it really looks amazing, I wished it had gone like this, but oh well.
In IDW issue 48 of MLP: FIM comics, portrays Discord being corrupted and turning into a being of harmony... Poor thing. He is kinda more scary and menacing than before, and they named him Accord.
Your art really looks marvelous and I wished they had gone by an idea similar to yours.

Well,maybe they will explore how it affects him personaly, after all this is a 3 part-er! (I just love Discord.) I will not spoil you, cause I think it's a bad thing to do without consent. but the 48 issue just aired, you can read on youtube I guess ( yes, it's true. ) and the 49 and 50 issues will come around december and january. The name is: Chaos Theory... I love the idea of Accord in general, but yes, they where very unoriginal with the design (Got rid of the cool mane and beard and gave the guy hair, mustache and a suit, lel). I would love if they really had corrupted him with harmony, like in your art. but overall, Accord seems a little bit more maniacal than Discord. When you read, pay attention to his lion paw, it's a smal detail, but I think it's a nice one.

Hello, I'm currently working a fic called Non-Entity (It's an idea for a story by Alara Rogers but she offered up the concept for anyone to write so I've taken it up.)

Oh my gosh, I've never done this but since I've been favouring a lot of your work, though I'm not sure you noticed I want to go in depth with this one, (seeing as how it's simply amazing)
alright discord is looking very symmetrical on this and perhaps angelic/devine but the ooze from his mouth is dark and corrupted definitely springs to mind, he also looks similar to a chinese dragon though that's just a note and won't play much into the idea I have, still very beautiful though and nice detail.
Alright so in this I would suspect that discord was once a powerful spirit and since most chinese dragon's symbolize power, strength, and good luck, he'd probably have a name that meant something like that, also he is yellow and sunlike, perhaps he was the sun god, or the sun itself and worked with celestia. The idea was back in the making of the world or perhaps sometime after equestrian was made and Luna and , discord was unhappy with his life (Fun fact, 3 clawed dragons are 'ministers' so in this discord wouldn't be at the top of the 'hierarchy' but close to) perhaps that he (we'll call him Aolus (meaning "sparkling; quick-shifting; quick-moving) was envious of the higher ups, or wanted to do something that was all his own making. But he did what he was suppose to do, however one day, a spirit of pure destruction and anger somehow possessed him, (because he is a sun god perhaps he wanted to see what night was like but was forbidden) the reason for the 'dark being' could be numerous, or the way discord came in contact with it and it just lived inside him for a time but as his envy or whatever negative emotion he was feeling grew, so did the being, until one day he committed a truly evil act, or something very bad and then at last the dark ooze from the dark being inside him began to flow forth and taint Aolus until he was misshapen and unrecognizable from what he had been. He had become Discord.
Perhaps one day when I have time I would love to use this image (and the crystal images you had before) as a prompt for the stormy it's really awesome.

If not for the mysterious black ichor oozing out of his mouth, I would say he's turned angelic instead of chaotic and he's merely uncomfortable with the situation. But that inky substance leads me to believe otherwise...I'M SO CONFUSED ;_;

He looks more symmetric, and he's white, with both wings feathered... have you given him a 'good' form? But that wouldn't explain the black inky substance in his mouth XD maybe he got poisoned and now he's all angelic or something...
Edit: I like all the ideas about him being forced somehow to become "Order" instead of "Chaos".... definitely bad for him, for sure!

Chinese dragons were always my favorite kind of dragons. The Chinese used to call them "kirin". Nowadays, the term is used to describe a giraffe.
Nevertheless, I love the value and effort put into the picture.

This wasn´t what Discord had planned at all. He simply didn´t quite comprehend the forces he was playing with. Of course, he obtained the result the yearned for, right? But at what cost?
After Tirek´s fall and Discord´s redemption he, the master of chaos and mayhem has utterly confused. How somepony could have forgiven him after having already being offered a chance for redemption? He had turned the world upside down, destroyed Equestria´s sanity, disrupted Twilight´s friends and submitted her to the sadistic torture of contemplating everything she had ever loved being burnt to ashes for his sole rejoice. He had been punished, obviously. And then, Celestia held a caring hoof to him, allowing him to be reformed. He had mocked such proposition and deliberately attempted to ruin it, and still, his new and only friend never gave up on him. Despite his numerous flaws, she still cared about him and treated him as an equal. And at the first opportunity he obtain to restore his domain upon the land, now by the side of someone who he could now discern as a manipulative trickster, he took it. He forgot all they had done for him and exchanged a convenient friendship for the power he once possessed. And when it backfired as he should have predicted, something snapped inside Discord. He saw the result of his actions, how befriending evil had resulted in his fall along all he once loved, the same way he orchestrated Equestria´s some time before. He thought everything was lost. He thought that the death that Tirek would bestow him would be a deserved retribution and, in part, liberating. He decided not to present any resistance and assuming his fate. And then, as the angel she was, Twilight freed him from Tirek´s grasp. For no other reason than charity. She could have left him to die; she wouldn´t be losing something important or beloved. Yet still she thought that his days were not over yet. And as reward for that uninterested feat, Tirek was defeated.
Day after day Discord could not find a reasonable way to explain why Twilight had saved him. He did not ever ask, of course. After all, he was still the impassible Discord, he whom had contemplated the beginning of time without being perturbed. And yet, the decision of a mere mortal had been enough to disrupt his vision of life. He needed to thank her, to demonstrate how profoundly grateful he was. But his own pride and self oppose to do so. He would always be the god of chaos, and nothing would change that. Or would it?
In his desperation, Discord lucubrated a plan in order to be of Twilight´s liking. He was too blind to see that she had saved him no matter how he was, and there lays the tragedy of this sad tale. Twilight was a being of order, probably to most ordered pony he had ever met. Even to a sick and disturbing level. If she wanted to properly thank her for her actions, he had to become what she loved the most. He needed to be order.
It was only gratitude, after all. Once simple way to prove how far he was willing to get in order to show his regret.
Discording other ponies had been a hobby of his for so long he did not even remembered it. Could that be applied to himself too? He soon realized that it was truly possible.
Being his own opposite should be proof enough for her. But he did not take in consideration the pain. It was an unprecedented dolor, much more intense than anything he had ever experienced. The sensation resembled to what he had felt when Tirek detached him of his magic, but much worse. He did not sense how something was taken out, no, he felt as something burned him from the insides of his chest, inexorably extending through every nerve, every shred of skin. Consuming it, replacing every cell of it with something horribly new. Soon, the burning sensation became visible as a blinding brightness radiated form the old body. His very eyes were a window to the energy he had so negligibly convoked. Suddenly, the harmful energy was eclipsed by the crunch of his own bones, as they metamorphosed into something different. Or, would it more correct saying, something equal? Soon, his disharmonious limbs adopted a unique and only form, a combination of the claws and feet he had always had.
As the horror of this transformation began to end, Discord tried to ask for help, but instead of words what abandoned his lips was a dense and dark substance, resembling to blood. But it was not blood, it was not something as mundane as a mere corporal fluid. His very soul was bleeding.
And finally, with the liquid slipping by his chew, slowly yet firmly dyeing his coat, as who he had always been, who he was, and who he was destined to be became a distant memory, all Discord was capable of uttering was a sole murmur:
"Something feels... wrong."
