"Something feels.... ......wrong..."Fangirls are always meanest to the characters they like most. It's the truth. I'm not sure why
Being mean to Discord is interesting because, seeing as he's an immortal metaphysical representation of an abstract idea, being "mean" to him is a little trickier. So it makes me have to stretch my imagination a little bit.
.....So... in case it isn't clear.. ..that is not a good situation up there.. although I have no idea what's happening XD This is one of those "make up your own stories" kind of pictures.
I purposefully went with a harsher yellow than I normally use (why do I use so much yellow in my art??)

I like how this screws with our biases. Normally, bright golden light is a good thing, symmetry is a good thing, glowing angelic wings are a good thing, and glowing eyes with no pupils can simply indicate power, neither good nor bad. So a lot of this looks like it's supposed to be positive.
But he's drooling black liquid. That is never a positive sign, anywhere. And in combination with the drool, the pupilless eyes don't look so much like they're glowing with power as that they've blanked out and there's no one home in there anymore.
I think something is forcibly transforming him. Some sort of force of Order is trying to rewrite who he is. His body language seems to indicate fear or anxiety, but not sufficient to lead him to run away -- he must have been caught by it before he realized what it was or what it would do.
I wonder if any of his friends would be capable of realizing exactly how horrible this is. I'm not sure even Fluttershy would entirely comprehend how very, very bad it would be for Discord to be transformed into something orderly. The thing he's becoming looks classically beautiful, angelic even; I'm afraid that his pony friends might be unobservant enough and driven by their own biases enough to perceive it as a positive change and not try to help him.

I am sooo happy about this comment! ;w; you really seemed to get what I was trying to bring across with this picture, as far as turning the idea of symmetry and light and beauty being a BAD thing and something that could indicate a very huge and serious problem. I was wondering if people would really see that that is what I was trying to play with.

Β Your concepts are always so intriguing and so wonderfully illustrated.
I think this could be a great idea for an episode. Say Discord "cleanses" himself of chaos magic to gain the ponies of Equestria's favor. At first, Fluttershy, the Mane Six, and the rest of Ponyville are happy with the change, but it becomes increasingly obvious that this new Discord (Accord?) is miserable and boring, and without chaos, Equestria begins to slide into a state of tedium and stagnation. Ponies no longer feel pain or sadness, but they also don't feel happiness or love. Twilight and her friends realize that they must (shockingly) restore Discord to his former self and bring chaos back into the world, before it's too late. Also blah blah blah, friendship lesson about appreciating your friends the way they are and whatnot

Weird rambly interpretation of someone else's work AHOYYYYYY.
I could see this as what he was before existence occurred. Discord seems like the type that's very easily influenced by others, from how readily he wanted to be Fluttershy's friend to how quickly he signed on to be Tirek's partner in crime. Perhaps before there was anything, he was simply a spirit, wandering the ether...then as things began to come into existence, the inherent chaos of existence warped him into the monster we know him as now.Β

Maybe I'm not as confident about it as I use to be. or maybe I think the MLP fandom may not be as accepting 8D;; I dunno. Well, yellow is supposed to be a bright and cheery color, so... make of that what you will? 
And that's a good question, about the "being mean" part... I think maybe it's like a desire of some fangirls to be the ones to help/heal their favorite characters because they "love them so much" (not taking a dig at anyone; I myself have been guilty of putting my favorites through the wringer).Β It's like "if it ain't broke, don't fix it; so let's have it be broke so we can fix it!"Β At least, that's just the way I see it.

That's probably very true yeah. I think it also has to do with the fact, at least for me personally, that more dire situations often brings out the best (and, sometimes, worst) in people and characters. And I like exposing who characters really are and what their true relationships with each other are below the masks and ego.
