Description I saw one on tumblr which was REALLY pretty and nice so I wanted to make one too!

A lot of these are probably obvious XD in fact probably all of them are very obvious. But Its nice to see them all together like this!

I\m not gonna talk about all of them because it's a little pointless to do so but I thought I'd point out the ones that are rather specific:

The Ratchet and Clank Original Commercial
This is actually an advert that ran on TV in my country And I've always really really liked it! When I was 14 I didn't really know how to draw a 3D character on paper really, so I used the commercial's art a lot for reference. I wasn't able to find a clear screenshot of it though. It's only in like super shitty quality online which is really annoying.

Kazuo Oga
Rather than "Studio Ghibli" I went with Oga. Because I never really referenced any of Ghibli's characters for anything EVER. But I do look a LOT at the background art for all their movies. Even Earthsea which is a really bad movie in my opinion has gorgeous background art. And most of Ghibli's background art is from Kazuo Oga. So there ya go!

The First Kingdom Hearts.
Not the second one. Not the mangas. Not anything that came out after 2002. Not the zippers, not the fashion sense in the games. But the character expressions and, most importantly, the use of colours. And sparkly things. These were things I took away the most from this game as far as art goes.

Tintin
I probably could've just listed "European comics" under this.... but Tintin, along with Asterix, were my biggest influences as a kid. And Tintin won over Asterix because I liked its backgrounds a lot more. I remember using tracing paper as a kid and tracing a lot of stuff in the panels. Also, I was just always a bigger fan of Tintin than Asterix.

Bone
Specifically the Black and white version. I own both coloured and BW omnibuses but the BW one is the one I had first and read multiple times. And it cemented my love for Black and White comics. And the use of heavy blacks for things. Although I don't use that in my art a lot it still leant a lot to my development

Stan Sakai
Again, Specifically Usagi Yojimbo. I didn't have any black and white panels on hand to use here since it's more his linework that I love than anything coloured, but this is all I could find that wasn't one of his watercolour or fineliner drawings. I buy physical books

Utena
I did not take much from utena's art style. But you know what I did take? hair. Haaaaiiiiirrrr. You wanna know why I draw hair the way I do? Utena. That's why.

My Little Pony
Specifically the 80s one. When I was 12 or 13 I actually draw over 800 pictures. one for each pony ever made between 1983 and 1991. Of course, looking at it now I realise I left some out that I didn't know about but still.

TracyJB
I still look a lot at her tutorials for facial expressions. Like all the time. And I have been for literally years.

EnolianSlave
Ok so basically half of all my artistic roots when it comes to characters comes from Eno. I obsessively studied her art for years and years and years AND YEARS. You wanna know why TMNT isn't on this? Because I didn't like the 2k3 show's art style so I referenced her work more than the official material. That's why. She's an incredibly strong foundation to my own art style and there's no way I would be where I am in my development without her influence.

I hope neither Tracy nor Eno minds the use of a small snippet of their work in this. I made sure not to use full artwork. It obviously belongs to them (as does everything else here). Please go fave their stuff.

Anyway, the few others I'm sure are pretty clear on their own with an explanation needed.

That is interesting

This is probably something I should do myself
I've practically forgotten how to be inspired/motivated anymore ever since high school...
Perhaps mapping-out all of the things that influence/inspire me would help!

p,s,
I'm dealing with major notification back-clog right now... lol

X3 I hope it's alright that I used a small piece of yours' here. I zoomed in so as not to use the full image and used an older piece. I hope that's ok
But yeah! You're a super big inspiration for me ;w; thank you so very very much for all your work you've shown us all this time!

It was so much fun to do and surprisingly not that hard to think about as far as influences go. I felt they were all rather obvious for me.
