Description fgbgkjsnv. I've been trying to connect to the internet since like 9pm >___< It is now 2am.

Anyway.

Trying to get back into the drawing game and build up my confidence. I'm actually rather happy with this picture although some things I feel weren't done very well XD;; but I do like the final result.
It seems what's taken the hardest hit in my inactivity is my colour theory. I need to work on that so I can have a better idea of the kind of colour schemes I want in future pictures.

Of the two, Gen is the one with the temper... and yet often he's the one who has to keep Usagi from jumping into the fire. XD I like seeing this sort of situation when it happens because, looking at him and thinking of the usual stereotype you see from his type of character you wouldn't really consider him as the "voice of reason" type of character.
....
Not that Usagi really listens to his advice when Gen tells him to keep his nose out of other people's business but hey... the guy can try.

One of my favourite moments is in book 16 where Usagi is out for blood when one of his other friends are in trouble. Gen follows him to help but is pretty shocked by just how angry and vengeful Usagi was acting (of course he was also rather concerned since Usagi had hurt). I also like it when the guy drops his walls a little bit.

Usagi says Gen has a heart of gold. I tend to agree with him.

Gen is the voice of reason more often then we fans tend to give him credit for. I keep forgetting how practical he can be given how reckless his profession can force him to be.

I know, and I feel the TMNT cartoon is partly to blame for this. They didn't get his character "wrong" or anything, but they didn't give him enough credit nor did they give him that subtlety his character demands.
And yes Gen is extremely practical, that's how he survives and means he can often clear away the bullshit in a situation and focus only on the basic facts. Sometimes it's not the right thing to do but often he tends to make a lot of sense with his reasoning.

The TMNT cartoon might be to blame for younger fans or the ones who haven’t read as many of the books yet but for lifers, like me, I think it's just that he's not my favorite so I tend to underestimate him. So in my case it’s all my own fault lol. I like Sasuke and Jei, mystical and obsessed weirdos seem to be my Achilles’ heel.
Mind you I like Gen a great deal and I'm getting to like him more all the time. Mr. Sakai has masterfully developed Gen over the years. Gradually, so that it all has a sense of realism. Which is awesome because I hate it when a character seems to change over night (coughs DB Piccolo into DBZ Piccolo coughs).
To quote Inokai aka Stray Dog, "Gen's being the voice of reason? Now I know we're in trouble! Ha, ha." love it

He only showed up in about one or two episodes right? I'm sure we could have seen more of his character if he appeared in more but since he was only shown for those few time they probably only showed some part of his character.

They showed him in I think maybe 3 or 4 episodes (Maybe more. I know Usagi is in like 7 episodes) but I just feel he was a little misrepresented XD that's just my opinion though.

It's been so long since I watch the series I would have no idea how many episodes he showed up in. Heck I only have a slight memory of how he acted. Of course I think I still like him, there wasn't anything about him that I didn't like.

I've heard of a thousand yard stare but Usagi has a 1000 mile stare. Something has really got him heated. And I'm not sure he's even taking any notice of Gen. I tried to think of what he could see that would get him mad like that and I thought of this rather simple scene. A foreigener with a matchlock rifle resting one one shoulder giving one of the town kids a sweet. IF anyone wants me to explain I will. I don't know much about the universe but drawing on my limited knowledge that what I came up with and your getting better Puffy, a whole lot better.

I've always wondered what the "foreign barbarians" looked like in Usagi's world but it's one of those things that; if Mr. Sakai actually showed them, no matter what they look like, I would be disappointed. Just because I've had roughly twenty some odd years to speculate.
It's like the Joker in Batman, if they ever managed to make an origin story really stick to that character it would only backfire and tick off the fans.
Have you ever read the volume that revealed Lord Hikiji looks like? I’ll only say this, I was shocked out of my socks.

DDD8 OH NO! I want to rebuy a copy because mine is very very slightly damaged down the spine XDD but not enough to justify buying it a second time. I need to rebuy book 2 and book 7 though because mine are first edition and a different size than all the others so they stick out randomly unlike the rest of the collection where everything matches.

I have that problem with my Redwall series. I started out receiving them as presents when I was a small child, continued to collect them myself as an adult and over the course of twenty-one years, naturally Mr. Jacques had to change publishers, so they're all mismatched. Lol, all lined up they look like teeth in a Hobo's mouth.
But yeah, Grasscutter somehow ended up in my father's tool shed back in High School. Serious water damage and some kind of soot like residue, the thing is demolished and completely unreadable. The excuse had something to do with Thanksgiving and needing to clean the house before my grandmother saw it cause she'd tell her entire home town we lived in a cluttered house if we didn’t (rolls eyes). Technically I should insist he replace it but that would happen right after you-know-where freezes over.
