Splinter: *sniff sniff whisker-twitch*Leo: You ok Sensei?
Splinter: Hmm? Oh. Yes my Son I am alright.
*Sound of Mikey falling in the water 8D*
--------
XDD I Love Splinter, I really do. I find him to be a wonderfully warm and caring character.. as well as kicking major butt.
And I love how protective he is when we see him in a flashback episode with the turtle-tots XDDD As the kids grew up he mellowed out since they could take care of themselves, but when they were little he was one paranoid guy! (for understandable reasons)
Oh, and if you're wondering wtf they're doing, in "tales of Leo" of the 2003 cartoon Splinter takes Leo on a scavenging mission for things they could use in the lair 8D I thought it was cute... and if I was a little kid it'd be the best game ever! XDD
I'm not really sure what I think of this picture. It kinda crawled out of my pencil without any prior planning or conceptualization. I drew the pencils for this 5 minutes after the pencils for the last pic with Raph just to keep my hand moving. that's kinda why the poses are a little uninspired. I really just wanted to draw Splinter and then kinda went "Hey let's put lil' Leo next to him! and then drew a background and then realised I should put the rest of the family in etc etc. So yeah.... I guess for a spontanious picture it's alright, even if it lacks some things I usually try and bring across in my pictures
I like Splinter the most in this picture
Hopefully you guys don't mind me bastardizing your childhoods XD;;
I made the base colour for this too light ;___; I'm still trying to get the hang of this new colouring technique. It wasn't as successful here as it could've been.
Please don't take or use or copy or trace my art! I work really hard on it.

I favored this artwork for these reasons alone:
This takes place during the 2003 series (my favorite) when Splinter is given characteristics of a loving and protective father, as well as a Ninjitsu Master and teacher. I'm gladly impressed with the expression given on Splinter: wary, protective, and sniffing out any danger that might be near his brood. Even though Splinter doesn't have his usual 2003 design here, he is natural looking and simple.
The turtles in this scene are adorable and in ways fit their personalities: Ralph and Mickey leaning to0 far in the sewage, Donnie checking out a piece of sewage he's found, and Leo, showing curiosity and concern for his master.
As for the style, I admire that you gave this scene a cartoonish-look, but I also feel a sense of edginess. The shadowy-color, the mysterious glow from the stream and the light shown on Splinter's face sets this mood of mystery. Not to mention that the fact Splinter actually senses something in the picture (and as you've voiced in the description) really gives and anxious air to it also. I feel as if they are going to be attacked are spotted.
Well done!

You haven't "bastardized" anything. You have channeled the proper spirit. I love Master Splinter too. He's simply awesome. A male rat coming to love four baby turtles as his own can't be bad. It's beautiful. Thank you for sharing it with all of us.

Adorable!!
But I'm totally impressed by the water's reflection on the wall. That is total win. I'd have never thought to do that. I love little touches like that that you remember.

*snickers* Leave it to Mikey to cause trouble, even unintentionally...
And he DEFINITELY looks like a rat, good job! Spontaneous CAN be good, as long as it's not constant and total randomness(ex.The ferrets are taking over the world!)

XD I agree. Randomness doesn't happen enough for me D8
And thank you X3 after trying to draw Splinter I have more sympathy for the animators who always seem to have trouble making him look like a rat. It's hard! D8
And yeah XDDD Mikey's like a friggen conductor.

*fishes Mikey out of water* Uh, Master Splinter? I do believe a father must be vigilent on more than one account.
(Mikey) Again!
I love how you mixed the adorable tots with the very serious Splinter. Excellent contrast.

Hey, while you're in there can you do up a quick chart of a rat's digestive system? I could really use the extra credit in my anatomy class. ^_^;
