Description
I dunno if there's a stamp for this saying but I doubt it.Anyway, if you're unfamiliar with this saying here's the summary.
Movies, video games, comics, books, whatever are all part of a business, at least in terms of the big name stuff (I'm not talking about indie created things here). And as such, very often money-making schemes are implemented to try and see what consumers are will to buy and pay for.
In a more basic way of putting it. If a video game comes out that has the bare minimum of said type of video game should have, or is a very poor game just in general, or it's lacking a large amount of features that were advertised or perhaps has a bunch of unnecessary features; it doesn't matter HOW much people complain or protest or leave messages to the developers on their websites or youtube or facebook. The fact of the matter is that if the game makes MONEY and people BUY it, then that is all the publishers care about (I am talking specifically about the businesses in charge here, not the creatives behind the actual making of the game). Companies are smart. They are willing to take some bad press or negative feedback as long as, at the end of the day, a profit is made.
So, the responsibility lies with the us as the CONSUMER to let companies know what we are and are not willing to accept in our media. And the only way we truly are able to send out message is to refuse to pay money for something we are unhappy with. You can complain about the new crappy reboot movie until you're blue in the face. If you go out and pay money to see it in any fashion, you are contributing to more of the same being made in the future.
Using money as the consumer's 'voice' DOES work. More than likely the only reason the Xbox One was adjusted and features tweaked after it was first announced was because Microsoft noted the lack of pre-orders and realised things needed to change. The same goes for Nintendo and the lack of sales for the Nintendo Wii U. The lack of 3rd party support on the wii obviously didn't matter to them because they went ahead and made the wii u. But now that sales are WAY down on the wii u they are actually announcing that they feel they have failed to deliver a product up to people's expectation.
Basically the lesson is, if you're unhappy with a movie or game or comic DO NOT BUY IT. It's as simple as that. You are NOT helping your favourite franchises by buying mediocre releases. Even if you are a complete Die Hard fan, you should not let your love and devotion contribute to the deterioration of your favourite brands/stories/characters/games/movies/comics/whatever it is.
....that wasn't a SMALL summary at all 8D;;

And that's why I support illegal downloading for trying something out for free. Because I also support buying things you love and deleting what you don't, rather than keeping illegal stuff for free.

True enough. Even large organizations must bow to the power of the wallet vote.

yeah, this is why despite having wanted killer instinct after more than ten years I have not yet bought it, both because the xbox did such shoddy irresponsible business practices with this version and because this killer instinct is being charged at full price and doesn't even have the number of character the first game did. so I haven't purchased either or and honestly would tell other consumers not to do so either.

Yeah, I said something like that. That's why I dont buy soda anymore, because its so watered down, water tastes better. And I did not buy the Wii, or the Xbox. So I know how it all works.

completely agreed on the xbox. despite wanting killer instinct what xbox tried at E3 was disgusting and showing a lack of concern for their clients, the consumers. that and the killer instinct game is much like marvel vs capcom 3- missing a butt load of characters and development it should have.
that said, I haven't really heard anything bad about the wii and have been considering purchasing it later on. is there something with the wii u that makes it so you shouldn't purchase it? mainly was gonna' get it for the new smash, mario parties and racing games since we basically play the nintendo ones locally with 3 or more players.

The problems with the Wii u aren't really that there's something big wrong with it, but rather that there's a lot of little problems that kinda pile up. The biggest problem is the controller which is now this ipad looking thing as you probably know. The problems with it is first, it's TERRIBLE battery life of about 2 hours before it needs to be charged, it's awkward shape which isn't comfortable to hold for most people because it's too big as a controller as well as it's rectangular shape which causes its corners to dig into people's hands after a while. Then there's the problem that there is almost NO third party support games coming for it. Because of the screen controller, not only to game companies outside Nintendo find it a difficult system to design for, but Nintendo has been very unfriendly in approaching other companies to develop games for their system and have, at times, come across as rather rude and dismissive. Basically, they want game companies to play it THEIR way. And most companies have therefore turned to the other consoles which are friendlier to the types of games they want to develop. This means the wii U has a very small library that will most likely remain small due to the system's limitations, even if Nintendo improves their relationship with other companies.
Basically, apart from the Nintendo franchise games, there probably won't be anything else really worth playing on the system.

yeah, i've noticed that since back in the gamecube, that their library seems to get smaller and smaller relying almost soley on games of mario and their like with things like resident evil moving away from the company. i hadn't been aware of the controller since actually on wii we end up using the game cube ones. backwards compatability (ftw). but yeah, considering this would be a system after that then that makes the idea of the controller more annoying, though, if it's like the original nintendo controls that shouldn't be too much an issue. those are the ones i started with anyways. but yeah, does not sound like nintendo is looking to be long lasting despite what they may claim.

what's with the bloody screen? i thought it was a controller? not a game system of its own. geez, that really does make me reconsider buying that system. too bad really.

Even better. It's a touch screen. So if you hold it wrong you could end up pushing buttons on it by accident.

I know what you mean :'< I don't think I'm gonna buy any of the new consoles really. All of them are doing things I don't agree with and which are terrible. And sorry to be the bearer of bad news

Well with the Wii, I found that most games are mini games and the remote was awkward to use, not to mention you had to buy batterys and a charger for it. It did not even have HD ability in the age of HD. It has discouraged me to even look at the Wii U since now it looks like a big tablet for your controller, and I don't think I seen too many games that meet my interest for it.

yeah, it makes sense. awkward controllers ruin games no matter how good they may be. it would depend on the shape, but yeah... that does not sound particularly condusive to gameplay.

The Wii Remote is a gimmick, much like the power glove. actually that is practically what it is, a more advanced version of the power glove. But how long do gimmicks amuse a person? not all that long, and most games where made to accommodate this gimmick.
I do admit that I love Zelda games, Super Smash are normally awesome, and so are the Mario Karts. And that new Sonic Boom is coming out on the Wii U. But a few games is not enough to sway me to a console. expesialy if the console is anoying to use. I don't know if it is or not, but they called it a Wii, and the new controller looks like another gimmick.

yeah, c-puff just showed me the controller. looks like a bloody vid system in its own right. how do you use that thing for something on another screen? ugh. yeah, it throws me off from wanting to purchase it.
personally on any system i only purchase a few games to begin with. on my ps3 was resident evil 5, soul calibur 4, mk 9, justice league, dc vs mk, sf 4 super, and doa ultimate. that was it. not a massive collection. but they have to be games that hold my interest and that i'll come back to.
it's the biggest issue with xbox. things like halo and cod will not hold my interest, mainly cuz i hate military games and i don't much care for halo. the only thing even remotely swaying me to box is killer instinct, which they've botched by leaving it in complete, and oh yeah, removing the fatalities.
so seeing this all now might be the one i get is ps4 if i get one at all.

I have a PS3 now, but I am not sure about getting a newer syste. I am not swayed. Though it kinda sucks that I won't be able to play Sonic Boom, since its only on the Wii U. And if many people dont like Wii, and if many people are groaning and moaning about the sports tape, then the sails for that game may be real low. And they may never make a Sonic game where you can play as four characters again. The last game was SA2. now think how long ago that was. Riders and heroes don't necessarily count.

dude, i've waited for killer instinct for over 10 years! since back from killer instinct II that was on n64. that's a bloody long time! and of course i can't play it cuz it's on the nazi box and the game company itself is using capcom style practices that I can't approve of. so yeah, i fully get you on the sonic game. sucks when you've waited forever for something and because of bad practices and mechanics you just can't make yourself support the game series anymore.
