“The thunder of my anger is my light”

Atrocitus is the ruthless, cruel leader and founder of the Red Lantern Corps. Once a humble native of Ysmault, Atros witnessed his entire home and family be destroyed by the Guardians of the Universe and their misaligned Manhunters during the Great Purge (or the Massacre of Sector 666). Dangerous and unpredictable, Atrocitus now devotes his entire existence to punishing the Guardians and their hypocritical Green Lanterns through only the most cruel and unusual of punishments imaginable.

Despite the rage and talks of penance, Atrocitus has an unusual soft spot for Dex-Starr, another member of the Red Lanterns whom he rescued from horrible video streamers attempting to drown the cat for views. Now, Dex-Starr accompanies Atrocitus on the most important (or personal) missions. The question of why is only known to the cat; the feline reminds Atrocitus of his daughter’s pet, which looked similar to an Earth cat.

Atrocitus is one of my favourite GL villains, probably because of the animated series from 2013 (highly underrated btw), so I had to do this illustration justice and to be frank, it came looking pretty good. This redesign pulls from another favourite alien villain of mine, Saren Arterius from Mass Effect, which I think makes Atrocitus look way more menancing than he did before. Overall, this is probably one of the best illustrations I’ve done in a while, but let me know if I could make improvements with future illustrations.
