Description
Production of IS (Joseph Stalin – IS) started in 1943. More than 3,850 units were produced.
IS-2 tanks served in both 4th and 5th Heavy Tank Regiments.
The 1st Polish Army in the USSR received 71 tanks of this very type.
After the war the IS-2 tanks has remained in military service till the very end of the 1950′s.
The model presented in Museum exhibition has beein serving during WWII in 4th Heavy Tank Regiment of the 1st Polish Army.

Polish Army Museum is a museum well known institution that collects, develops science and exhibits-displays of military history.
The museum was established April 22, 1920 year, the decree of the Supreme Commander, Polish Marshal Jozef Pilsudski. Its founder and first director was Colonel Bronislaw Gembarzewski.

At present, the museum is a collection of over 250 thousands ofexhibitions. Crops still grow with new purchases and numerous gifts. Collected exhibits are presented in the permanent exhibition halls and a number of temporary exhibitions.

Muzeum Wojska Polskiego to powszechnie znana placówka muzealna, która gromadzi, opracowuje naukowo i eksponuje muzealia wojskowo- historyczne. Muzeum powstało 22 kwietnia 1920 roku, dekretem Naczelnego Wodza, Marszałka Polski Józefa Piłsudskiego. Jego organizatorem i pierwszym dyrektorem był płk Bronisław Gembarzewski.

W chwili obecnej w zbiorach muzealnych znajduje się ponad 250 tys. eksponatów. Zbiory wciąż powiększają się o nowe zakupy oraz liczne dary. Zgromadzone eksponaty prezentowane są w salach ekspozycji stałej i na licznych wystawach czasowych.
