Description
Comic of the Week: Ms. Marvel by writer: G. Willow Wilson and assorted artists.
“Good isn’t something you are. It’s something you do.”
This is a wonderful super hero story from the view of someone who feels like an outsider because of her heritage. It’s wacky fun at times and at other times completely unafraid to drag your emotions through the dirt. Kamala Kahn herself is a incredible nerd, tons of heart, and while “teenager trying to figure out life” has been done to death, her heritage makes it feel completely new. This isn’t Superman’s fictional world her family is from, it’s Pakistan. She’s not an alien, she’s an American, Jersey is her home. That and the diverse cast of supporting characters make this book a joy.

Both the art and your description of her setting seem great to me.

This is one of those books I could see RWBY fans liking. It's slightly more ridiculous at times, but Kamala is a lot like Ruby.

Tied with Stephanie Brown for my favourite superheroine of all time. ^_^

I'm just starting to read Steph, but she seems pretty cool. She seems fun in her guest starring issues.

You gotta check out her solo title as Batgirl written by Bryan Q. Miller. Was sadly cut short by the reboot, but then, as Steph herself said in the last issue, "It's only the end if you want it to be".

That Batgirl run is actually what put her on my radar. I wasn't reading DC at the time, didn't really have money, but that was one of those books where I felt I was missing out. Especially since she wasn't around when the New 52 started, where I tried to get into DC and really only got into the Bat family. Felt like I missed out.
I also hear Cassy's run as Batgirl is phenomenal.

I need to read Cassie's run as Batgirl someday. Also, while it's occasionally had issues, I actually really like some of the stories involving Babs as Batgirl again. And yeah, it's a bit of an issue that she was a hero for the physically handicapped and she was taken out of the wheelchair, but at the same time, it's since been established that she's able to walk again due to a neural implant that actually has a real-life equivalent that either works or is being worked on (not sure which). In other words, she IS still technically handicapped, since if anything ever happens to the implant, she can no longer walk.

I loved the New 52 Batgirl, but that's kind of personal. I have Depression, and the way Gail Simone handled a lot of the themes, specifically survivor's guilt and the fear of going back, really helped in a time when I needed to see that wasn't just me. I can see why people are upset, though.
