Easily my favourite Star Wars character. I tend to love the scrappy loners, though. Especially when they’re not whiny and broody.

It shouldn't be a delight these days, yeah. But it's still great to get an action hero/heroine who gets told "you can a hero, defeat the baddies, defeat the baddies, and save the day." And the response is "hey, that sounds really cool. Let me give it a try!"

Her acceptance wasn't the Force mind-dump & activation, it was realizing what Kylo Ren was doing, and the contest of wills capped by a Jedi Mind trick to get the escape. Kicking Darth Emo's butt was only the second step.
