Description It's been looooong two weeks of hard working. My job is getting the best of me. Even tough my thunderbolt project is finished I don't have the time to polish and render it.

And so... 'Abstraction time!' I said That's my new wallpaper. I made it in like 5 minutes (rendering time included). Enjoy it or hate it! Do as you please. This Saturday I'm gonna finish that thunderbolt and render it so you guys can finally have it

I am curious to know how you got the glass working like that. I have tried to render some glass and it just doesn't turn out right. Check out my two window glasses in my gallery and you'll see what I mean.

Hmm, I suppose it's because of round edges and index of refraction. Also, reflection type and color sometimes make you do the 'Wow!' face

P.S. DA needs edit/delete comment button ^^

I am thinking that I didn't create a thickness inside the glass, and that might be the problem.

Please elaborate on reflection type. I was not aware there was more. I have always turned off Fresnel and set the IOR at 1.5.

Agreed about the edit/delete comment button.

Glass in real life uses Fresnel, why do you turn it off for the render? IOR is more like personal or situational choice. But keeping it's value between 1.5 and 1.7 usually gives fine results.

Reflections also have color - the default color for reflections is white. You can experiment with it and see how it affects certain materials. I don't use reflection maps for glass. Reflection maps would be useful for adding a reflection to certain areas of a texture, and we want the glass all shiny so NO reflection maps

The material options I was using for this render were:
1)Fresnel - on
2)IOR - 1,6
3)Diffuse - some red nuance
4)Reflection color - some red nuance

Oh, and one more final thing - whatever the glass color is it will absorb some colors from its surrounding materials. Also don't forget about the reflection color - because of Fresnel it may change your glass color entirely. Cheers!
