Description
My second underwater picture, and it's jellyfish again! I'd be freaked out if I ever ended up swimming in a sea filled with these even if they aren't dangerous...Usually I find realistic pictures of animals (or humans for that matter) extremely boring to do, but I find that jellyfish are mysterious and beautiful in their own way. There was no need to make them something more than they already are.
------
Media: Photoshop 8.0, Wacom tablet.
Time taken: Heh, muuuuuch longer than the other jellyfish. I wasn't keeping track of time and I messed some things up along the way, but it took at least 7 hours (keep in mind I was hungover while I did this).
The original picture is absolutely huge, almost half as tall as me...
Full-view for technical details.

uhm. jelly fish ARE dangerous... they STING you... and the only way to make it stop stinging quickly is to piss on it... and if you're a girl... it's quite difficult... and it sucks.

Hahaha! Indeed! Though you can just put soap on it and shave the exposed area... but I guess urine is easier to come by on a trip to the beach. Guess you'd have to ask a friend to help you if you're a girl. Or just manage the pain (the option I'd choose...).

I'd piss on myself... or have someone else do it... whichever... I don't like being it lots of pain.

Yeah, I guess it is. I always did dream of swimming in a forest of seaweed (those long ones, not the muddy kind) and discover what the sea held, when I was a child.
Thank you.

Oh my god, there's jellies in that movie? Haven't seen it yet. ;(
But if there's jellies I'll see it soon...

looks very convincing, the light beams should be a little more tangible and solid, but then again, I only went down like 11 meters, so I don't know what it looks like deeper.
but very real looking piece of work

Have you ever seen the sea when the jellyfish start "blossoming" (I don't know if that's the word you use, too)? Now that's scary!

Hmm, don't know really. Is that the same as spewing eggs? oO;;

oO
I think it's not. It's the time when fully formed grown specimens just overcrowd the whole sea (it might come before mating, I guess).

LOL. ^^
Well, 1 million jellyfish spewing eggs in the same place, is quite scary mind you.
I think I know what you mean now, and yes, that's also quite frightening... if you were ever swimming in a sea filled with them. @_@

Fortunately, I haven't. I saw what it's like from a boat - I was shivering the whole way, and it wasn't from the wind!

Looking at it makes me feel like one of them; rising to the surface. Beautiful work! Did you have a photo to work from?

As I wrote, I'd be freaked out if I ended up in a sea with a bunch of these, so I made sure you could see the surface, a kind of hope, so the picture isn't frightening. ^^ I'm glad the picture draws you in!
No, I made it all from my mind/imagination and memory of nature programs I've seen on TV, hehe.

Heh, it's from an ooold picture of mine, my second deviation to be exact ([link] ). I was considering changing it, but it's like changing your trademark and that's no good.
