Description CORNERSTONE #2 ALMOST COMPLETE AND AVAILABLE SOON!!!
Here you see the results of our labor on the cover of #2.

Pencils: Chris "cannonball" Lesley
Inks: Jesse "Cadre" Hansen (me)
Colors: Dennis van Belzen

Included therein:

Anubis:Guardian of the Tomb by Bill Taylor
Tan from Austin Janowsky
Congo Castilian from Jason Bourgois

On the covers of Cornerstone, we spotlight a story as well as show pieces of the rest of the stories somehow incorporated.

For example: the first issue spotlighted Tan and had the rest of the stories represented in the background... this continues with this issue... spotlighting Anubis with the other stories represented in the heiroglyphics in the background.

Hope ya'll dig and check out the book... stay tuned.

It's basically at this point on a print on demand type thing... if interested, I can print and send your way for the $3.25 cover price plus shipping.

Cool thanks. Did you come up with any of the concepts in this comic? Or mainly just responislbe for the artwork can I ask?

Cadre In reply to badeyedeers [2014-11-03 06:14:40 +0000 UTC]

in the first two issues, I was Art Director, Editor, Inker, Letterer, Grayscaler and everything else, but nothing originated from me in particular as far as any of my creations... just my fellow studio mates...Β

The new stuff coming out from us however WILL be a lot of my own creations... such as the Kur piece shown on my front page... I'm the writer on that book and designer.

Just interested. The art is really cool. I was just wondering what the inspiration behind the artwork on the cover of issue 2 was and the name 'cornerstone' itself.

the cover as with the first issue cover and the new one coming out... continuous theme for all the covers has been and will be to focus on a particular storyline in the book but also include something from all the other stories as well... all on cover with one focal point... first issue was focused on Tan (guy with staff), second issue was focused on Anubis (fighting Seth) and the rest are in the building sculptures...Β

Cover Pencilled by Chris Lesley, Inked and lettered by me with colors by Dennis VanBelzen

Nice work, although, if you don't mind a bit of constructive criticism from a graphic designer, I would have made the "Cornerstone" logo much bigger, and used colours that contrast with the background, as it gets a little lost at the top of the page there. Perhaps you could have used a cut out if you were afraid of covering up the sword? Looks great otherwise though.

Cadre In reply to IanDSharman [2008-04-16 11:38:26 +0000 UTC]

I had it larger at one point... may tinker with it a bit more... also thinking of using some of that negative space on the side perhaps for the credits rather than along the bottom... we'll see what time and availability allows...

Thanks for the feedback... noted and saved.

Hey, no problem!

By the way, meant to mention this to you before (would have emailed it, but as I'm here...). There's a guy on here (deviantArt) who goes by the username artist-ic-blasts who claims to be associated with you guys (Cadre). He signed on to do a seventeen page strip for Eleventh Hour Vol 1, repeatedly promised the pages and eventually started ignoring my emails and messages and failed to deliver a single page. If he IS associated with you, I suggest you end that association before he starts earning Cadre Corner a bad name. If he's NOT associated with you then, well, I don't know what you can do, but you should at least be aware that he's doing this. I've been contacted by other people he's ripped off and let down.

He is not a member of the Cadre Corner Studios.. I'm also waiting on pages from him and as a result, been let down thus far with no results... good artist, but hasn't shown any area of professionalism when it comes to turning in anything or meeting deadlines.

I ended up having to run two old stories in Eleventh Hour Vol 1 (and one of them needed toning, which meant several all-nighters to get it done in time) because he failed to deliver. I don't understand why anyone would take work on and not do it?!?

Cadre In reply to IanDSharman [2008-04-17 11:36:22 +0000 UTC]

I approached him about all of that... we'll see how he responds... but I'll end this discussion now on this topic... if you would like to continue, please note or email me direct... don't want to clutter this image comments with non topic discussion.
