Description
These guys are soooo elusive! Considering they're in an enclosure in a zoo, they have plenty of places to hide! So I'm chuffed with this oneManed wolf Chrysocyon brachyurus

Nice We have a pair of these guys at the Phoenix Zoo, but I've never seen them standing up or more than 6 inches from the fence. So, I don't have a shot of them.

Yea, from the comments I've got they seem to be generally hard-to-get when a photographer's around!

Yeah, they seem to be more nocturnal than the Mexican Grey Wolves. I actually see the Maned's more often, but when I see the Mexican's at least they're awake

No Way! I grew up reading Gerry Durrell's books. Probably half of what I know about animals came from him. I would so love to visit his zoo, someday.

It's a lovely zoo - I know I have to say that because I'm working there, but I've always thought so!

I'm absolutely sure you're right. Gerry was at the forefront of modern zoo design, so I'm sure his zoo is a model of great design.

I know the feeling... In the zoo here it's quite hard to get a good look at them. However, these last couple of weeks, I've seen them pretty much every time I walked past. It's got to have to do something with spring and babies I guess

Yea, I think there must be certain times of year when they're more active...our guys haven't realised it yet!

Well, we had a male for a while, and now he's got a new female, that must be part of it too

I love these darlings. They're like a cross between wolf and fox. They also remind me of hyenas. Lovely shot!

Wow, it really does look like a fox on stilts! I read that somewhere once. It's beautiful. ^_^ Where do they come from, if I may ask?
