Description **Edit**
It's been pointed out by a few folks that I'm dumb, and labeled this incorrectly. Fair, they seem to know what they're talking about, so, the fair thing to do, follow the suggestion and change the name, so now it's a coil gun. Thanks to *puppy-in-a-blender" and "~svetressito" for setting me straight.

An updated version of an old idea. I finally got around to texturing it, and thought I should also get some sort of presentation style up there.
So I guess on to how this works? The rings going down the barrel spin giving the round a spiral on it's way out. They turn on, as they are powered down the length of the barrel, drawing the round out sequentially faster until it has left the barrel at very high speeds.
So, I guess there it is.

Started in Maya, transfered to Max to render with Vray.
Hope you like it.

Caetis, im sad to inform you that this isnt a Railgun...

"Puppy-in-a-Blender" is right, you see a railgun works in that way that two rails with an powersuply on each end connected to a power generator and an moving armature inbetween the rails,
An electric current runs from the positive terminal of the power supply, up the positive rail, across the armature, and down the negative rail back to the power supply.
this creates a force called Lorentz force wich propells the armature forward.

an Coilgun (also referred to as Gauss gun) on the other hand works in the way that a coil of wire (electromagnet )placed around a tube or conduct drags a ferromagnetic object to its position and than switches off and an electromagnet further ahead switches on to propell the object further and faster.

as you can see on your blueprint, the whires placed alongside the gun and the rings connected to then consists with the Coilgun description.

Dont get me whrong now i realy love this blueprint, it radiates imaginaton and creativity and its compleatly awsome, just had to set things right. (sorry if my spelling is a bit bad)

But isn't that actually a Gauss gun?

Being a HUGE fan of rail gun technology, and having seen one up close and person a few years back, I couldn't help but drool a little. This technology is truly amazing and I love your concept.

Awww thank you. I'm glad you like it. I'd love to see one of these up close... well I mean, I'd love to see a real one up close.

The only reason I was allowed on the ship that had one was because my friend and I claimed I was his newlywed and he was high ranking in the military. lol Nothing like calling in a favor and putting a lot of trust into the person you are showing. It was a once in a lifetime thing and I'm glad I got to see one.
