Description
Well, finally, its ready! This is the Dragon Realms in Malice, as of today. Things will expand and grow as the comic and story expands and grows.
Please note, while this includes some canon locations from TLoS it very obviously includes multiple places NOT in TLoS!
This was done for my benefit, for funsies, and for the benefit of the comic/story itself. Buuuuut especially for funsies.
Even though it made me wanna break my wrists off.
But anyway! Ready for an explanation of everything? Here we goooooooooo!
READ MALICE
------------
THE SOUTHERN ISLE
Ancient Grove
Untouched, uncharted, and unknown. Full of dangers and beastly plants. The forest area appears beautiful and serene, full of bio-luminescent flora and fauna that make the area difficult to not just stand and stare at. However, standing still for a long period of time here is very ill advised, as both flora and fauna, although beautiful, most definitely want to eat you. Don't dare attempt to go for a swim or take a drink from the river, as it is definitely poisonous.
Mushroom Forest
A large, expansive wetland full of towering mushrooms instead of trees. Despite its safety provided from the expansive cover provided from the mushroom tops, the floor is covered in carnivorous plants lurking beneath the muddy swamp-water. There is multiple families of friendly dragonflies that call this place their home, however.
The Dragon Temple
Hidden within the shroomy forest lies the great and once abandoned Dragon Temple. Despite its age, a cocktail of spells and enchantments have assisted this awe-inspiring structure in its fight to stand the test of time. Its stone worn by the multiple attacks from the Dark Armies. Within its halls is a green scrying pool, a towering statue of the once magnificent Malefor, and a perfect training grounds for young and old dragons alike.
The Silver River
A flowing, silvery river that goes through the entirety of the southern isle, pooling above the Dragon Temple on the north-most end before turning poisonous within the Ancient Grove.
DANTE'S FREEZER
A massive, icy, frozen expanse of land at the farthest most part of the realms. Home to once a devastating battle, there is countless war structures and even soldiers found covered in frigid ice. Even the remaining buildings in the area fail to protect any visitors or inhabitants from the deadly ice. One can even find the collapsed bridge that covers the gap between the shoreline and the mainland, where the battles once took place. Broken apart due to the rages of war, the bridge barely serves its purpose anymore.
THE WHITE ISLE
A floating massive chunk of land within the ocean, surrounded by glowing, pristine waters. True to its name, this island is covered in bright white sands, rocks, and structures. Littered with ruins, bones, and bubbling pools of acidic water this place is truly a test for any dragon or beast alike that seeks conference with the Chronicler, whom calls this island home.
MUNITIONS FORGE
A hot, rocky island formed from cooled lava from resident volcano, Boyzitbig. Despite the ashy, desolate-looking terrain a species of humanoid-moles called Manweersmalls call this island home, as well as various lava-faring creatures. From above the land looks fairly empty, as most of the trails and structures lie underground through mineshafts and caves.
WESTERN MAINLAND
Citrine Plains
The beautiful, golden plains covering most of the western side of the mainland are home to very active wildlife. There are even some old residents from the village down south some that have migrated here for wheat farming, and make their homes among the abnormally tall strands of golden grass covering the plains. Even a full grown dragon may get lost here!
Silent Islands
True to its name, these islands are very quiet; lacking even typical ambiance despite the lapping of waves when you're near the shorelines. Covered mostly in sand with spots of sea-grass, these islands have very few resident creatures but provide very good fishing opportunities.
Force Pointe Village
A village full of water, earth and wind dragons have made this floating village their home. The village is constructed using pillars fastened deep underwater within the "maw" of the Leviathan's Maw, with an outstretching dock towards the Great Sea. Some residents have migrated north to pursue farming opportunities, opening a small system of trails stretching along the shoreline and within the grassy hills reaching towards the Silent Islands. Most dragons here reside on the docks, but there are also some homes found on the beach area and even up in the hills.
Quillyn Ridge
A large, rocky ridge separating the lush plains from the frigid mountains. Believed to be carved out by a giant serpent, Quillyn, in the Before Times due to its wavy pattern between the rocks. It is believed this serpent carved the ridge on its way into the ocean, in an attempt to halt the spread of ice from Frostmouth Mountains and preserve the tall grass of the Citrine Plains. On his way into the ocean, many believe Quillyn took a bite of the land, thus creating the Shattered Vale.
Shattered Vale
Within the story of Malice, the Shattered Vale takes on a different role and location than it did in TLoS.
Located just off The Wing and south of the Leviathan's Maw, this seemingly broken-apart island with a shallow inlet was is considered home to the Guardians, as well as their "main hub". Many gather here to train, and participate in fierce sparring matches to test their skills. Guardians typically bring any possible candidates for future Guardians here to further their training once they reach juvenile ages, where they are one day crowned Guardian upon the retirement of another Guardian, provided they do not pass away and become the new Chronicler. Many dragons of all elements also call the Vale their home, living peacefully among the broken off islands in their hills.
MAINLAND
The Wing
A wing-shaped mass of land covered in flowing, grassy plains. Once believed to contain the Shattered Vale prior to Quillyn removing it from the mainland, and encompassing Silvermoon Lake. This mass of land separates the western shores from the central.
Silvermoon Lake
A shimmering, beautiful deep lake only safely accessible through Whisper Wood or from The Wing. Both moons can be seen glistening off its gentle waves at night, reflecting a bright silver rather than their usual colors, causing many to believe this lake is magically charged.
Whisper Wood
A beautiful forest full of life. Many ruins of old civilizations can be found here, covered in moss and weathered from time, but still retaining an eerie sense of beauty. Countless creature species can be found here, but very few are deemed hostile. Within the beautiful woods is a stream leading from Mirror Falls into Silvermoon Lake, showing the lake's beautiful glimmering appearance the entire way; within the forest the stream appears fantastical even, reflecting the dancing of fireflies.
Frostmouth Mountains
Tall, dangerous, and icy mountains dotting a rocky valley. If you ever make it to the peaks of any of these mountains, however, you will seemingly enter another world completely different from the frigid climate and be met with a beautiful horizon high above the clouds, with a shockingly comfortable atmosphere. From the southern ends of these mountains resides pieces of a frosty forest, fed into from Whisper Wood.
Kyrasus
A pristine, white city hidden snugly within the tallest peaks of Frostmouth Mountains. A lush, green oasis with a magically controlled atmosphere like an eye in a storm, surrounded by Frostmouth's harsh climate. Most of the city is above the clouds, giving it a magical look when viewed from atop another peak. Its structures resemble Greek or Roman architecture, with white pillars and decorated arches illustrating mythological stories from The Realms as well as tales from great Kyrasian heroes. The city surprisingly has many crystal clear streams, and many fountains decorating courtyards and commons areas, as well as multiple warm hotsprings. Kyrasus is mostly home to ice dragons, but it is not uncommon to find wind and even lightning dragons in the city due to the high altitudes making it easier to come in tune with their elements.
Atop the tallest spire sits a glorious castle fitted with many archways and thin dragon-made streams, following in suit with the rest of the city with lush grass and beautiful flowers.
Icaensus' Footprint
An incredibly treacherous crater, covered in lava rock and home to a semi-active volcano, this piece of land is believed to have been created by the great dragon beast Icaensus during the Before Times. It is thought that this beast had created this crater with a large, firey footprint and had reached into the core itself and pulled forth the great volcano that is used to power the great dragon city south of it. Due to its sheer cliff-face walls, very few dare traverse the area for if they were to lose flight, it is very likely they would never be able to exit the crater.
Twilight Forest
This perpetually nighttime forest encompasses the southern end of Icaensus' Footprint, and hides the ruins of the Catacombs. Home to many beautiful, shimmering waterfalls; this forest feeds into the Valley of Avalar and is very similar to Whisper Wood with fireflies dancing between the trees.
Avalar
A windy valley nestled neatly between Twilight Forest and Warfang, this stretch of land is home to a race of humanoid-cheetahs that utilize the windpower found in the valley to provide a safe environment for living, and even power contraptions. Most of these contraptions are used with weighted crystals, and sport a feat of primitive engineering. The brave race however is not fond at all of dragons, or much visitors at all. Hidden deep within the rocky forests of Avalar, however, lies secrets of the past that many thought were once gone forever...
Warfang
A beautiful golden city built by the resident moles as a testament to their friendship with the dragons prior to the uprising of Malefor. The city features beautiful golden arches, and rounded buildings. Many structures feature dragon statues of some sort, most providing some sort of function in some way be it irrigation for water, bridges, defense catapults, or keys for giant gates. While tensions between moles and dragons are high due to Malefor's treacherous reign; relations are gradually healing with his banishment and with the dragons aiding the moles in defending the city against the Dark Armies.
While the city was once destroyed, it was quickly rebuilt by the moles and dragons together. The city is home to dragons of all elements, and even those that do not possess elemental attributes at all. Together, the dragons live peacefully with the moles. Most of the city's impressive engineering is powered manually, by water from the Dam to the east, or from geothermal heat from Icaensus' Footprint just north-west.
Warfang Dam
A giant dam built separating Lake Saphyra and the Twin Rivers from The Great Sea. Also built by the moles, the dam's architecture is designed to resemble a giant dragon spouting water from its mouth when opened.
Tall Plains
Home to the proud ancient tribe called the Atlawa, these giant floating islands tethered together by swinging rope bridges provide almost an other-worldly feeling. Surrounded by clouds, the landscape is very lush and green, with ancient ruin-like structures and mazes created as defense by the Atlawa during the attack from the Dark Armies. The peoples that call the Tall Plains home are incredibly in tune with their surroundings, growing incredibly successful crops every year. However, due to their proud disposition, they do not typically welcome visitors.
Verdant Hills
Tall, lush, rolling hills just below the Tall Plains on the east most section of the central Mainland. These hills feed directly into Arcwing Ravine, and are separated from the rest of the land by the Twin Rivers. The hills are exceptionally windy, almost rivaling the Valley of Avalar.
EASTERN MAINLAND
Arcwing Ravine
Treacherous rapids surrounded by jagged, towering spires with a constantly thunderstorming atmosphere. This dangerous belt of land separates the mainland from the eastern side of the land, serving as a barrier between the green lands and the desert area. Surprisingly, the southern-most area of the ravine is home to a small city of lightning and fire dragons, Zypher, connecting just barely into Verdant Hills along the coastline. Many dragons that seek to journey through the ravine are forced to stop at the city, and typically do not continue on. Those that do usually end up with a capsized boat from attempting to traverse the rocky rapids, zapped out of the sky, or burnt to a crisp from standing still for too long. The ravine's electric atmosphere is caused from a high concentration of metal veins within the ground, which is mined from time to time by the nearby city. Named after its highly electric atmosphere and tendency to electrocute flyers.
Pyre Desert
A hot, desolate desert home to the beautiful Everfalls, as well as a village of fire dragons hidden within its dunes at the western-most section of the mass. Very few things are capable of survival within the hot sands, proving it a difficult piece of land to traverse. However, these fire dragons have adapted tough soles on their feet to withstand the burning hot dunes and a shrunk reliance on water. Most water can be collected and purified from the shores of The Great Sea or the freshwater from Everfalls, as there is very few cacti to cut open and drink from.
Everfalls
Beautiful white waters rushing through a massive waterfall, feeding into the rapids of the ravine below. Atop the falls are tall, some hollow, spires; hollow spires pushing out water naturally pumped from the top lake. The nearby village of fire dragons rely on these falls for easy access to freshwater, despite the canyon-like walls surrounding the top lake. Everfalls serves as the land's final hurrah before turning into dead, desolate lands as you journey east. Providing travelers an incredibly tempting landmark to stop at and not continue, being an oasis within a burning desert.
Deadlands
Dark, desolate sands that turn into jagged terrain after crossing a separating river. These lands were once simply mountainous with a hot climate prior to the Dark Armies creating the Mountain of Malefor, and soon the Well of Souls. It is believed these lands are so dead due to the acidic green liquid spewing from the Well, causing the lands around it to become poisoned where nothing natural can grow nor survive.
Well of Souls
Dark, treacherous, intimidating... Any word synonymous with evil would fit this place. A carved-out mountain shaped like the evil dragon Malefor's horns to generate a connection to all things evil and even bring back those that were once banished by the ancestors. A place where those that have turned or succumbed to darkness go to reside. This place goes by another name, the Mountain of Malefor, as it bares resemblance to his likeness and harbors those that have turned to him for guidance, and do his bidding, as it once was the prison for The Dark Master himself as it is far away from all civilization; preventing him from harming more. Within the mountain is a giant shrine to Malefor, the source of the acidic green liquid killing the surrounding environment.
Concurrent Skies
Strikingly beautiful, but dangerously foreboding. Where hope goes to die. A dangerous, electrified land covered in stunning glowing blue crystals. The land was once home to Volteer and other electric dragons that sought to strengthen their abilities and hone their connection to the electric element, but was overthrown and became the home to one of The Dark Master's puppets. The terrain and skies became dangerously electrified, dark and so stormy one can barely fly within its barrier.
