Description
Folded and designed with 6" squares of gray/light red 6" squares of Wyndstone MarbleAs I mentioned on my Tumblr, here are the wet folded versions of the card suits folded from elephant hide. As expected, the curved shapes certainly worked well with wet folding. Each symbol is built on a 8x8 box-pleat grid, and for the most part, structurally similar.
The subject of card suits in origami have been done before, but I just wanted to try my hand at making three dimensional free-standing versions. I'm pretty happy with how they turned out and their relative sizes.

Sweet! I trust these will be easy to make? I have red paper for the heart and diamond.

I like the spades one in particular. It has a feeling of grace.

I did actually start designing the spade first and the rest just followed.

A simple idea, yet elegant and original in its execution. I especially like how they stand up, most origami card suits are very flat.
