Description
Located near Fox Glacier is Lake Matheson which is known for its mirror reflections of Mount Cook. Unfortunately for me it wasn't quite mirror like on this morningThis was taken from a higher platform as the lower one was full with about 10 people taking photos! Who gets up at 5:30am? oh thats right, bloody photographers
2nd shot with some sun! [link]

10 people? I went at midday in the middle of summer and there were only 4 or so for me

Amazing, the mist is incredible. I like that you did not HDR away the shadows, I like the mood the shadows make.

Thanks man I was just hoping for a little cloud... though the day before was so cloudy you couldn't see any mountains!

I can see why you would be a little annoyed that there wasn't a perfect reflection on the water here but hey, you have to work with what you have I guess. Despite that, the depth of the blues in this is wonderful and it really does evoke the feeling of a cold wintry morning.
I can imagine the breath condensing on the air of all those photographers, thermos flasks of coffee at the ready
I'm glad as well, that a lowish dynamic range has been captured here, the temptation for a bit of HDR trickery would have been too much for some to bear I suspect but maintaining the darkness, and slight hint of deep greens in the trees to the right is appropriate here
Nicely done

Much thanks for the positive critique I was tempted to rid all shadows with some HDR work but restrained myself
