Description
Just after uploading this I realized that the title 'Coloring Tips' isn't really... tips on how to color.... so yeah the title of the deviation is more accurate.Q. On what opacity do you use your brushes to paint/blend colors?
A. I usually use the watercolor brushes around 10-40% opacity. Otherwise, the colors becomes either too weak or too strong. For the water brush, I recommend 10% opacity, and for the paint brush, I recommend going 100% because it's not meant for blending anyways.
Q. How to set the brush opacity?
A. Please take a look at this. sta.sh/214ufkvzwech
Q. What if I don't want to color at the same layer? What if I want to do the shading / highlights at a different layer? How to blend at different layer?
A. Please take a look at this set of tutorial. sta.sh/22a53jygighf

This might sounds dumb but when blending what colour do you set it to?

Ah, I'm quite new to FireAlpaca.
How do you "blend" the colors? Do you take one color and go over it? I don't get it

no worries. everybody starts somewhere
ah, yeah! you just take one color, and go over it, and maybe mix another color in the process. It's almost like how people do oil painting in real life, but since it's on computer, you don't have to worry about making the painting look muddy and you have more control over how you want the painting to look like. it sounds tedious, but that's art and you gotta put some effort in to make it look great.
good luck with your art endeavors!!

also im watching you you're extremely helpful omg

it's the same settings as firealpaca / medibangpaint's original watercolor brush settings, but set the load color to zero and the ease of mixing colors to maximum. it's also recommended to use the brush on 10~30% opacity, but it depends on each person's drawing / coloring style.
thank you for the watch! i'm not as active / helpful as i used to be, but glad that i can be of help! ^q^)9

How do you do the base coloring? Is it done stroke by stroke? bucket tool? those kinds? I see a lot of coloring that goes out of the drawing itself.. (like for example.. suddenly coloring the whole character with its skin color, etc) but the next thing I see.. only the skin color was being shown >.< So I am not sure how did that happened..

depends?
sometimes bucket tool isn't clean enough, so some artists i know (including myself) use several methods to achieve the result that we want -- many paths to rome.
some of the most general methods are:
> selection (magic wand, lasso tool, quick-masking, expand/shrink/inverse selection, etc...)
> bucket tool (quickest way, but sometimes colors don't get into small gaps and spaces)
> brush tool (takes longer but sometimes it's the best way to get transparency effects)
maybe you can ask that particular artist on how they did their coloring?

Oh gosh. Stupid me. Lol.. (I should prolly already know this one) lol.. I recently used Medibang coming from Adobe CS - since I don't have SAI - so.. I was suddenly confused since I was using iPAD - it totally slipped my mind that there is a magic wand, etc haha! Sorry! I usually go with the brush and bucket tool - but it takes so long so I was thinking.. is it me that is taking long or am I doing something wrong, lol! I did ask a few artist.. but they never responded - just shared a link on speed painting which made me clueless lol.. thank you for responding back. Lol. Sorry for being so silly. I was too fixated in using brush tool and clipping mask that I totally forgot about the others @_@

Thank you thank you thank you! I'm just moving to a Mac and since Paint Tool SAI doesn't work on a Mac, FireAlpaca is the closest thing to it that I could find. This tutorial was super helpful and makes me happy cause now I'm not going to have to change my entire way of drawing.
Thank You again!

My FireAlpaca was was working fine about two days ago, but, well, now it isn't... Instead of the normal toolbar, like the one in this tutorial, there's a much slimmer toolbar, & you can't change the thickness of your brush, the color or even the type of brush; it's stuck in pen. I don't know if this has happen to anyone else, but if it HAS... I would definitely appreciate it! I need to find this out, since I'm trying to work on my new nuzlocke... If no one can fix this, I could probably work on it in DA Mural...

hmm, sounded like the previous update that they made, with them changing the UI and stuff....
I think you should try to download FA now and see if it helps, since they have updated it again?
