Description
Just after uploading this I realized that the title 'Coloring Tips' isn't really... tips on how to color.... so yeah the title of the deviation is more accurate.Q. On what opacity do you use your brushes to paint/blend colors?
A. I usually use the watercolor brushes around 10-40% opacity. Otherwise, the colors becomes either too weak or too strong. For the water brush, I recommend 10% opacity, and for the paint brush, I recommend going 100% because it's not meant for blending anyways.
Q. How to set the brush opacity?
A. Please take a look at this. sta.sh/214ufkvzwech
Q. What if I don't want to color at the same layer? What if I want to do the shading / highlights at a different layer? How to blend at different layer?
A. Please take a look at this set of tutorial. sta.sh/22a53jygighf

Oh! Thanks so much! Those are some really handy-dandy brushes to use. Say, this isn't really a question related to the tutorial, but I still wonder: With which program do you make such an oblong-shaped document, like this one? Some people use it to place different steps of their drawing process underneath each other, and I'd like to give that a try too.

I used Photoshop to compile all the screenshots i've taken while using FireAlpaca.
Actually, I used Photoshop for my drawings / paintings, that is, until I found the godsend FireAlpaca. Now I mainly draw on FireAlpaca and tweak / edit them later with Photoshop.

Ah! Thank you! Yeah, FireAlpaca is great, isn't it? I recently discovered it and I'm just in love.
I think I'll try using it for combining the images too... Idk, photoshop is so, well, not free. Maybe later, when I'm an accomplished artist making billions every day... Yeah, that sounds like a plan!

Would you consider using GIMP instead of photoshop? That thing's free, and I know that several professional artist uses that program.

Heey! Thanks so much for all the tips! You think Gimp would be better for combining images than FireAlpaca? Hmm, I might give it a try.

Thanks for this! I actually used this tips for creating custom brushes on the Android art app Layer Paint HD which has striking similarities to FireAlpaca

Isn't that because the developer of Layer Paint HD also contributed in developing FireAlpaca?
Anyways, glad it's useful for you!

Hi! I was wondering where I can download these brushes?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
cakwe In reply to PrincessPixieDust [2014-05-13 17:57:56 +0000 UTC]
No, you don't 'download' brushes in FireAlpaca.
Just like in Paint Tool Sai, you need to create them by yourself.
I gave the settings of my brushes on the tutorial above. So if you wanted the brushes, you just need to copy my settings!
Good luck and have fun with FireAlpaca!

I'm having a problem with firealpaca, I was drawing a picture then I made a new layer and started colouring. But for some reason I can only colour small random areas and not the areas that I want to colour. Do you know why this is?

"can only colour small random areas and not the areas that I want to colour"
that... sounded like you turned the scatter brush option on.
in the case you didn't, it might be a glitch or error.
