Description After the miserable results of the AP1.5 trials, FSG stopped experimenting with automatic handguns for several years. It wasn't until after the Great War had ended that the universal success of the famous Colt 1911 .45 became too much to ignore. It was then that the company decided to start completely from scratch as opposed to modifying the design of their famous AP1.

There were a few things that were certain about the new design. The first being the ammunition. Since the Colt 1911 was famous for it's slow and heavy .45 cartridge, it was apparent that a round more powerful that the AP1's 8x12 millimeter. FSG decided on the 11x32 millimeter Molokov, a large pistol round that originated near the borders of Russia that was originally intended as defense against bears. Second was a new action design. The AP1 action, which was similar to that of the C96, was not strong enough to withstand the pressure and blowback of the 11x32mm. A slide more akin to the 1911 was designed, with the barrel left exposed to keep the weight to a minimum. A large ejection port was cut into the left side of the slide, large enough to prevent the jamming problems that arose with the AP1.5, but not so large that it was prone to dirt clogging the action.

The result was a hefty firearm that, despite the exposed barrel, weighed almost three pounds. It left a bit to be desired in accuracy at any range past around a hundred yards, but made up for it in stopping power. Test runs of the weapon involved the weapon being fired at vehicles. The 11x32mm could punch through the engine block of a truck and still have enough stopping power to at least wound someone standing on the other side.

The pistol was designated the Automatic Pistol 2. Since the Great War had ended, there was not a huge demand for a new military weapon. A few military forces purchased orders of the weapon, as did several police forces. It showed widespread popularity in Turkey and Czechoslovakia, and some made their way as far west as India.

The AP2 is widely considered to be the first "modern" handgun produced by Forello & St. Grode.

I'm going for the realm of plausibility, but this is pretty much fiction.
Sorry...

The P38 definitely inspired the design, but I tried to make it look different enough to be interesting
