Description
As promised, another illustration to Tolkien's works. This is the scene when Fangorn gives the key to Orthanc, now uninhabited, to King Elessar. I'll try to add the exact quotation from the book soon.Waterolour on cardboard, 2012.

gorgeous job ; v ;
love the detail, and despite being of the same darkish, murky colours, you can make out every individual in the crowd emerging from the trees

Thank you.
The crowd here was really tough to paint and I spent quite some time figuring out how to paint them right, but I'm quite happy with the effect now - the dull colours make Elessar's silhouette stand out nicely.

Absolutely lovely! The colours are very rich despite their softness, and the way you've faded out some parts of the composition is very nice indeed. =]

Thank you. I really enjoy painting scenes where parts of the landscape is hidden by mist and faded out - they're always a kind of an artistic challenge.
