I've been preparing for long, long time and I finally gathered enough courage to give this theme a try. And I'm really happy with the results.I've always felt somehow sentimental about the story of Beren and Luthien from Tolkien's Sillmarillion, which is why I was rather reluctant to try to illustrated - I had the images in my head, but there was high risk that I won't be able to transfer them onto a piece of paper. But I'm glad I finally tried, since I like this painting so much - that's the scene when Beren and Luthien meet.

Ooh, this is beautiful! Love the textures you're able to capture in the hair and clothing, and a lot of work must have gone into those leaves!
The only bit that throws me off slightly is the lighting around Beren's hair; I assume it's simply a bit of white just like around the leaves and other forms, only it seems to stick out a bit more there, possibly because the rest of him is fairly dark.

I was quite afraid that Beren will not look the way I imagined him, but fortunately I managed to paint him 'right'.
