The ambiguity that you have for the dragon is a great artistic trait for really wonderful pieces. The camera angle is dynamic and powerful, displaying a sense of danger and adventure which I find lacking in many contemporary works. This sense of a huge world vs the little forces, making for a grand adventure in it's own right. It really goes to show for your incredible talent.
The darkness of the piece works to the incredible yet subtle melting of contrasts, making this companionship with light and darkness, that doesn't make the audience cringe with fear, but not be all too hopeful. It is this special ambiguity that, as I said, really shows as the workings of a magnificent artist.

Lovely workmanship. Let me add that just because the dragon might look somewhat evil doesn't necessarily mean that it IS evil inside... I'm hoping that the dragon will rescue the children (WITHOUT getting eaten itself by the tentacle monster!), but in the end that's all up to the viewer's interpretation.

Well, if the tentacled thing doesn't get them the dragon will. Either way it sucks to be those kids. Should have listened to their parents. It always comes down to that. Listen to your parents or some horrid tentacle monster is gonna eat you. Of course if this was a Japanese painting then those kids would be in for the time of their life. Hyuck.

Haha, I don't think this is "messed up" at all. It reminds me of a scene from a movie or a book, where the kids are adventuring somewhere and it seems like they've encountered a monster they can't overcome. But then suddenly something comes to their rescue; in this case that's how I see the dragon. It's a beautifully drawn scene too, with that lighting and her expression. That golden light, to me, sort of suggests that something good is about to happen, I don't know. I can almost hear dramatic film score in the background, haha. Awesome work!

It's cool with me, the tasty little kiddies will get eaten by the cephalapod, then all three will be burned by the dragon long before the tentacle beast can digest them... it's the best of both deaths!
If they are lucky, the acid will eat off their skin, the fire will burn away their flesh, birds will peck out their eyes/liver/intestines, and then they'll die of exposure.
'cause it's the artists job to make their characters suffer.
