Circles.

They're round. They're infinate.

Which can only mean one thing. Because they are infinate, it means they can never die. Which only means one thing: They were created as an attack force for Chuck Norris, which in turn means they're The Delta Force...

Which in turn means...THEY KILL PEOPLE.

RUN CALICO! RUN!! THEY'RE COMING TO GET YOU!

I was sitting there one day, wanting to use more of that wateroclour paper because it's great marker goodness, and I came up with this doodle of Calico. I wanted to experiment with face expressions, which is something I've been trying to do for while now. I wanted to add more personality to some of the expressions that I give my characters. So in this picture, I decided rather then Calico smiling, because for some reason my characters have to be insanely happy all the time (it sometimes freaks me out...I mean, like, WHY are they smiling all the time?? What do they know that I don't???) I decided to add a little more personality to my typical smiley pictures and worked the smile into more of a cheeky sarcastic grin. So that's what I did.

And then I just ended up fooling around with her hair, and having more fashion fun and this is what I came up with. So here is Calico, whom I decided to give a hairband too because I'm obsessed with hairbands and I just fiddled around with her outfit. I didn't want to give her a red outfit because she ALWAYS has red outfits, so I thought I'd be slightly more exciting by giving her a few different colours as well. I based her shirt on a shirt that I used to have that was a shoulder thingie (because that makes a lot of sense.)

That I'm actually regretting giving away now. God dammit. *sigh....* The one I had was stripey.

And of course, skinny jeans are essential to every waredrobe, so I gave her some skinnies, and then some flats, which are also essential to ones waredrobe. But not just everyday flats. But flats that..MATCH YOUR HEADBAND.

I would really like to have flats that match all my headbands. That would mean I would have like, atleast 20 more pairs of shoes! ZOMG! *shakes excitedly*

Anyway. This was also an anatomy practice, since I discovered I sucked at drawing female anatomy one day, and I wanted to work on that, so that's what I did. Calico is supposed to be short and curvy (kinda like me. Atleast I think I'm short.), so.. yes. I just... just adore this one so much! I love her pose, it was a lot of fun to do! I meant to make it look like her foot was actually touching the ground. But it kinda looks like she's gone all ballerina on me, but thats okay. She's a cat, so she's dainty and things.

So perhaps she actually can walk on her tippy toes. Being a cat would kick ass.

For the background, I really didn't know what to do. I didn't really want a big background or anything. (I.e "I was actually much too lazy to do a real background that required thought.") but I simply had to put something. I remembered a few of my older drawings done a while back where I had obsessions with shapes... and then I thought...SHAPES. So I started to draw all these goofy little circles and I thought it looked kinda cute, so I just did a bunch of them surrounding her so that they were in her territorial bubble but not exceeding it. I really like the results! Quite honestly, I don't like to do crazy advanced backgrounds for pictures like this, because I find they can take away from the character, who is the main focus...

But you know what really takes away from the character? Well gee, I don't know. Maybe...MY SCANNER! Who once again decided it would be GRAND to explode my characters and make them painstakingly difficult to look at!!! NYARGH!! Oh my god, seriously, the scan is really bad on this one, she actually looks really nice and DOESN'T cause your eyes to bleed. Like I said, my scanner has this thing where it thinks reds are actually nuclearic and insists that they GLOW, even tho clearly on the original THEY DON'T GLOW AT ALL. So now Calico glows in the dark. Radioactively.

She isn't supposed to, but my scanner insists. It also insists on scanning random specklies everywhere. Not just the watercolour specklies, but other random made up specklies that AREN'T EVEN THERE. How long must I tolerate my scanners abuse???

Anyway, either way I really like this one. Just not the scan. The hideous, evil scan.
