shoreline - one

the fishing boat looks as old as the key, sitting deep in the sand, beginning to be buried by the endless tides that wash over it. they’re already dragging a tangled net from one side and are rusting their way through the metalwork to slip inside even easier. tufts of stubborn beach grass are growing through the holes, making the most of a sturdy bed, and the puffins that nest on the cliffs nearby watch her inspect it all.

Porcelain hops up onto the boat’s ledge. at her chest, the key swings with her movements and hums with anticipation: she’s found its home. there’s a hook by the broken door that it hangs upon perfectly.

but her work is not done yet. beside her awaits another item, this time a rough stone broken open to reveal its crystalline core. it’s a rich amber, and the shards turn the sunlight into beams of yellows and golds. she can’t resist picking it up to turn it back and forth, and against her paws she feels the thrum of unsettledness.

a puffin’s beckoning coo draws her attention upwards to where the group are silhouetted against the clear sky. they know the shoreline better than she does, so when they take off towards the water, she leaps to follow them.

I've decided to stick with the same palette, so the whole pathway fits together x) I love these colours, and puffins, and Porcelain.
