Description
The secret weapon that the united kingdoms of Anthaesia have put off in use in fear of its neighbors adapting the technology. 20 years after its creation they are finally put to use though a little bit too late because of the prominence of muskets and their numbers in the enemy's ranks. The ultimate spearhead unit would have led the charge to push back the invaders if they were successful.
The most advanced Cataphract of Anthaesia: the Precursor Knight also known as the Forward Striker is armed with a 7-foot Nara wood battle lance coated with 1 mm thin mithril from the spaulder shield to the barrel of the built-in long barrel shotgun which fires shot that can tear apart any gambeson and punch through iron those who survive a hit will be felled with at least a few shattered bones. The stallion and the knight's armor would be similar, patch leather coated with at least 1mm of mithril which refuses to yield to any force other than intense heat, making both horse and rider invincible to direct strikes both blade and bullet. Not even lines of pikemen or spears or halberds are powerful enough to stop a single cataphract.
But a few lines of muskets concentrated on a line of these units will eventually demoralize the horse or crack the rider's skull for the number of bullets and force hitting her head continuously.
The introduction of cannons to the battlefield and the fall of the united kingdoms of Anthaesia ended the use and existence of the Precursor Knight.
Spearhead Precursor Armaments:
530 AU Long Lance with Integrated Shotgun/LLIS-530 -
5 Cartridge capacity chamber loaded shotgun, pistol grip style handle. Placed under-arm for more stability when aiming.
Total weight (unloaded) 6.2 kilograms.
LLIS Disposable Lance Head -
Iron tip lance head attached to a wooden cone which completes the battle lance, the force of impact can shatter the wooden parts of the lances even if they are coated with mithril, a mithril-rod core lance was suggested during the earlier days of the conflict but all the remaining mithril on the archipelago nation is not enough to complete more than ten rods.
Weight (unloaded) 1 kilogram.
500 AU Infantry Sword -
These were traditional cruciform swords inspired from the Euraesian's design, there was a time when the swords were made of stamped steel but the swords were easy to be lost during clashes in a battlefield so most blades were formed from iron or alloy. Standard measurements required 30 Inch blade, varying 7-10 inch hilt fit for the user when held in two hands, the Anthaesian army's insignia stamped pommel, and typically a V shape bent cross guard in the same length as the hilt.
Weight 0.8 Kilograms
Precursor Armor:
574 AU Full Suit Firefight Armor -
Anthaesian Mithril is a mysterious substance, when it comes in contact with cold objects it hardens and will absolutely never bend, dent or even scratch but when placed in a furnace it will melt as fast as ice in the desert, 1 milimeter thick of the metal is enough to make any material actually indestructible that is why as much of it stretched thin in all the armor plates of the knights were made to make it both extra light yet highly protective.
Average Total Weight 23 Kilograms.
555 AU Mithril Coated Armor Plates with Flax cloth Covers -
The horse's armor is a mix of separated steel plates and mithril coated patch leather, the mithril coated pieces are strategically placed to cover the horse's vitals and mobility muscles, the remaining steel plates are used as loose covers for the joints, some parts are impossible to cover without issues so standard practice is to cover those parts including the most armor pieces with cloth so that the enemy wouldn't be able to see the weak spots and take shots for it.
Average Total Weight (no saddle) 29.6 Kilograms.
