I'm just going to keep this here for historical purpose (this took a bit of time to make!) but you know what, it came out rather lame. Feel free to make a better version from this one's PSD.And since I do not want it calling attention too much the original gif is here: [link]
So I saw this protest deviation: [link]
(more info there) and, no offense intended, but I don't think it calls attention enough, and some people might not even notice it.
Instead, my concept is to make into a gif that is visible and annoys the onlooker right from the preview. It is made to look good in the preview (here, in the deviation page, dA places it in a background which is hiding the rounded corners
).If you are worried that this gif is too heavy for some dial-up users, fear not, it is compressed down to tiny 70 KB.
Also, it has been designed so that it scales well to some places where it will be resized to half the size (and still be readable), and its style matches that of deviantART.
Created with Photoshop, gif composed with Ulead GIF Animator, the font used was Ubuntu.
If you are wondering, yes, it took a few hours, mainly because of the favicons. I coded a bash script on Linux to get them, thank you Linux. (The list from Alexa.)
And shame on you Photoshop, for that stupid "Save As" dialog.

Yes, bulshit has many faces.
But as always, remember one thing: these creeps are very cunning and they always have strategies - try to always think what they could be.
My guess is that they may be making all these wont-pass laws to distract us so they can suddenly lobby for a massive freedom-destruction law set, and people would think "nah... won't pass" but it does.
Ah, politicians and corporations, if they just weren't so greedy.

Lol, I think these guys tried to come up with a hateable name (I have a few theories around the idea that they actually aren't trying to make these laws pass right away like so).
Sopa means "soup" in Spanish and Portuguese, "shut up" in Greek and "ass" in Russian now. It's a joke.

I'll just reply a note of yours, but since our threads of conversation branch like trees and multiply like horny rabbits, I'll try not to extend stuff much further.

Just to keep it short, saving every frame in photoshop involved configuring an "action" which saved the file as a .png (without the stupid amnesic "save as" dialog) in a specific location, bind it to a key (F2), and have a program monitor that location by polling it constantly, then renaming to a filename with the smallest number from X upwards that didn't yet exist in another folder. Then make a change, hit F2, repeat. Phew.
All of this because Photoshop is certainly worth a lot of money.

But, it was either that way or saving 64 files one-by-one.
(Not to mention that getting 64 favicons involving downloading Alexa's list as CVS, and parsing it with a command-line one-liner to wget a favicon, using an undocumented Google API that returned just the favicon...)
But it's always a chance to learn new things!
And by the way, noticed something strange. The GIF was supposed to be faster, but if I kept accelerating it more, it would slow down halfway (it was supposed to start slow and become as fast as it can, 10 ms per frame at the end), but it slowed down halfway in Firefox and Chrome. Go figure.
