Since the episode Booth Buddies in SVTFOE I've been very disappointed on Star. Tbh, I dont think it is in her character, coz she would care about Tom's feelings and wouldn't cheat on him. So I made an comic how it should be instead of that what we got. I know, all Starco shippers are damn happy about it, but it is disgusting that their ship came in this way. Cheating is fucked up and Tom doesn't deserve it. This is the first pic from 2 page comic.Related content

Why, why only me. This show wouldn't even exist without Nefcy. So if you don't like an aspect I say "write a fanfic and get over it." Also it's REALLY stupid thinking that being disrespectful will change literally anything, it's impossible to please everyone so write a fanfiction, and shut up. I do agree with this, I wouldn't have thought it to be in Star's character to do this! If anything, I would've imagined her (maybe a bit more politely) rejecting the kiss, and sorting out her relationship with Tom first... Like, properly breaking up, without cheating?

Well... While I do agree that cheating is pretty much f*cked up, you're like...biased as hell.
First things first. If you watched the same series that is shown in Disney XD, you would probably remember that Star said herself in Sleepover, a phrase that very much sums everything that happened with her and Marco in this scene. "Your heart, and your head may disagree".
Basically, SHE DID want to kiss him, and so, she did it as her heart said for her to do, the kiss was consensual and there is no room for discussion about this, after all As a fellow artist, I know you pretty much understand body language and well, Star even leaned to kiss Marco, its on the episode and its very clear.Β
So, just a friendly advice, before saying "How it should be instead of that what we got..." I recommend to say "How I would do it since I get Star's character differently than the original creator and I don't Ship Starco...''

I think Star would accepted the kiss anyway
I'm a boy but if i was a girl and my boyfriend doesn't give a shit about the important things i do and my best friend does and it's a better person i think it wouldn't be so hard to have reasons to cheat my boyfriend (and broke up with him)

So she planned to create "nothing special", just a "cliche" of pairing up the main boy and girl.Β I don't care what the story is or how good and/or original it is, Star Vs. The Forces of Evil has currently degraded to nothing short of the typical romance cliche.Β If J.K. Rowling dodged this bullet with her Harry Potter books, why couldn't Daron Nefcy prove that good art stems from a vision and not from a perspective that a majority of an accumulating fan base would want to see?

The fact of the matter is, romantic leads are overdone and cliched and not a lot of fiction strays from it nowadays.Β So it would feel more original to try something that actually feels earned and not destined for each other right from the start.Β The Twilight series bears the cliche, The Princess Bride bears the cliche (except the romantic leads more than earn their happy ending, making for an epic story), and now Star Vs. The Forces of Evil has succumbed, whether Daron Nefcy planned it or not.Β Phineas and Ferb technically avoided the cliche because Isabella is not really one of the main characters.Β She's not in every single episode and not every single plot revolves around her trying to get Phineas to return her affections.Β Yes, she's obsessed with Phineas, but even she knew her limitations.Β Harry Potter avoided the cliche because Ginny isn't a part of every single plot and no thanks to Hermione, the actual leading female character, Ginny went through a good five boyfriends before hooking up with Harry.
Regarding SvTFOE, having Marco temporarily hook up with Jackie did give him slight character development, as he mustered up his courage to date his crush and it felt like they grew genuine feelings for each other.Β Having Marco and Star head in the direction of hooking up seems a bit forced because it's assumed this is what most of the fans wanted as well as the production crew, or a lot of their staff for that matter.Β On top of that, having a main boy and girl character in any fiction makes it all too easy to just predict that they'll hook up at the end of the story, so there's literally no surprises.Β And if there are no surprises, isn't the whole thing just nothing special in the end?Β This is one of many reasons why writing romance can be hard.

Just happened to read this, and I must say I totally agree with you on those points! To be honest, I'm a bit disappointed the show is going in the direction of an obvious Starco ship, even though they don't necessarily fit together that well, all for the sake of written romance clishes... or so it seems. I actually liked the fact that the main characters have/had a relationship with a character that's not in every episode, and that seems to suit them very well.Β
Not that I dislike the Starco ship or anything, not at all, it just doesn't seem to work in my eyes

Since I never saw the series and only looked into some parts of it, I can't say I'm gonna be raving/ranting about it anytime soon.Β I'm just seeing it as a typical romance cliche of pairing a lead character with one of the main characters, particularly the deuteragonist.
In my own game idea, I start with the main girl and boy characters already paired up as romantic friends, which could technically avoid the cliche by not having anything build up.
