Biography/History

Miles Master was built in 1942 by Oliver Bullied as one of the strongest and most prideful engines of his fleet to help with the war effort during WWII. Like most of his siblings, he was very proud of his name, as he thought since his name being 'Miles Master', meant that he could order other engines about. He worked hard during the war effort hauling heavy passenger trains safely across the Southern region, but the amount of slipping and ash coming from his smokebox soon made him and his class float on the same boat as Rebecca's. This made him humiliated, and he worked even harder to prove that he was more than capable of doing any job, except goods.

In the late 50s long after the war ended, Miles soon found himself working on heavy goods, which he despised greatly. His harsh treatment towards them often led him into getting into accidents and his pride slowly diminishing from the constant teasing from other engines. It got so bad one day that out of anger, he purposefully derailed and damaged himself badly to show British Railways that he wasn't suitable for the job. He did show them that, and because of this, he was withdrawn from service much to his surprise. He sat in the sheds for a long time until BR found he was taking too much space and had another engine tow him for scrap.

Years passed, and Miles was still sitting in a scrapyard, rusting away. That was until one day when a stout gentleman found him waiting for his end and decided to save the engine. Miles was later saved and, with the help from one of the diesels, was towed to his new home. On Sodor. He spent a few months in the works for an overhaul as some of his parts had been sawed or rusted away into nothing. On his first day back in service for many years, he was acting snooty again and tried to show the engines how an engine like him is better. This led to him breaking down right outside the station with his passenger train as he had forgotten about his wheel slipping issue, not to mention all the ash that he had coughed up and sprayed all over the passengers. It wasn't until Rebecca and Neville spoke to him in a stern manner that Miles changed for the better, to everyone's surprise, and now he enjoys helping out in any way he can... most of the time.

Personality

Miles is one of the most self-centered or puffed up engines that you'll ever find on Sodor. His attitude has led him into problems he couldn't get out of and he tends to keep his character that way. He has since changed now and is helpful in any way possible, but still enjoys showing the others how things are done - his way.

Miles is based on a real-life 21C2 Evacuation Class (or Larger Q1) built by Oliver Bullied.

Trivia/Notes

Deciding his NWR livery was hard for me, as I couldn't tell where anything on the evacuation classes were. His smokebox is right at the front, yet his funnel is behind it? He was originally going to be purple with yellow or gold lining and black borders, but I just chose to add red lining to be simple (may change in the future)
