Don't be too harsh on me, lol. This took me forever to get right!!! 16 tiny frames of the same thing over and over and over again, lmao. But it's done finally!!

My new icon!!!

*** Update ***

I just didn't like how the mane didn't flow right, so I went back and added the hairs that would be coming down as the head moves up (if that makes sense, lol).

I also tried to make her eyestars show up better.

What did you use to make the animation?

Candrence In reply to RogueTabby [2009-11-22 20:04:50 +0000 UTC]

I used Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended. I found a basic animation tutorial made for Photoshop here on dA and from there, I drew and painted each of the 16 (I think) frames, made sure the timing was right, and saved,

Woah, that is awesome. Not many people do non-cell-shaded animations. In your icon, the animation almost looks like a short film (if it was not for Candrence's unreal colors! ) Great, awesome, amazing job!

Candrence In reply to casca-x [2009-01-27 21:23:46 +0000 UTC]

*blush* Thank you very much, . Yeah, and that's why there are still my mistakes in variation on some frames, . But, like I mentioned earlier, it was solely created for my 50x50 icon, lol. Then, I even had to cut the actual quality in about half because dA requires gifs to be LESS than 15kb, . Oh well.

Hmmm, well, this was my very first attempt and I used Photoshop CS3 to create it. What program are you using?

I am also using CS3,I just think that you are a lot better then me lol XD

did you look at any tutorials or anything like that for help? If you know of any or if you can point me in a direction of some one who could help that would be lovely ^^

Candrence In reply to arcadia-the-lich [2009-01-27 22:29:24 +0000 UTC]

My pleasure, hun, .

Now, I knew that I (personally) wouldn't have been able to sit through drawing the full frame of a horse over and over and over again, plus, I wanted to show clearly that it's my OC, so I decided to just make the head move. I don't live or work around horses, so I just YouTubed horse videos and watched how a horse moves while galloping. I tried to focus on how the head moves in relation to the body.

Hehe, we'll have to see about maybe making one for you, lol. I know that you don't have an avatar at all right now, but I don't know what I would make for the icon, lol. My idea was easy, it's of my signature character, lol.

It looks great! I've only tried a few extremely simple icon animations and gads, they take *forever* to finish!!

But now you make me want to make one... Help!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Candrence In reply to Murasaki99 [2009-01-27 07:10:52 +0000 UTC]

Oh dear! Yes, they certainly do take a long, long time to do, lol.

Hmmm, I'm not even sure where to begin to help, lol. I was Photoshop CS3 and I think I remember you saying that you were getting it. I recently found - [link] - which basically showed me how to create animated gifs with PS. Play around with the timing. I actually had to manually type in 0.05 sec delay for each of the frames (I think default is no delay) to get the speed to look just how I wanted it, lol.

Let me know if you had any specific questions you want answered, lol. Maybe that will work better, lol.

Actually, I have Paint Shop Pro, which comes with an animation utility. I just haven't taken much time to work with it.
