PHEEEW!!!!!Well, it's currently ..... WHOAH! Seriously?? Uhhh, I guess it's actually 7:45am and the sun has been up for a little while now, lmao.
But, it's DONE!!!!!!!!!!
And look, Mom, no lines!! Hehehehe.
AND NO REF, lmao. Well, ok, so I had one basic reference for reminding myself the exact pattern for a clown fish, but that's it, lol.
That also means that critique on things like anatomy are NOT WELCOME, thank you
I can't wait until the Black Pearl on Howrse.com finally opens up one of these days eventually, lmao.
By the way, my name on Howrse is

*blush* Thank you very much!!
This was my first attempt at making water and it was really fun to make! Hehehe I'm so thrilled that the water turned out nice, lol.
And yes, I'm also very excited that this coat is finally completed, lmao.

Um, HOLY SHIT. And and I mean that in the best way possible.
This is astounding! The anatomy, pose, colors, and overall
design are just perfect. Great texture and form, it looks so
real. You have really outdone yourself here, definitely one of
your best pieces in my opinion. Gorgeous beyond words!!!

*big blush* Awwwww, thank you so much, hun!!!
I always get worried about my anatomy, but with this one, I had to keep telling myself "It's a fish-horse! Who's going to tell me the anatomy of a fish-horse is wrong?!" lmao
Hehehe, I hate to think that I've "outdone" myself because that makes me nervous that my next piece will pale in comparison, lmao. But thank you so much for your kind and honorable words, hun! You have always been a sweetheart to me!

Hehehehe, that's totally fine with me, lol. Is this coat even a month old yet? Hehehe But, yeah, I got comments backed up on me too, especially this week and probably next week again because I've been picking up a ton of hours at my job, lol.

Hehe, yeah, I know and understand that you simply don't like the fish-horsecombination, but I am grateful that you still y this from an artistic stand point

dolphin-dreamer In reply to ??? [2010-02-17 01:26:13 +0000 UTC]
It looks very nice, I like it, the splash is very well done xD
The only thing I want to point out his right leg, (the front one) has a smidge of colouring that looks out of place, the white and black curve would be on his stomach. . .(I think) so it might look better if that was replaced with the orange?
But it is a very impressive piece, the main is well done and looks wild enough to show action but also looks like it's underwater. Having the howrse background colour is a very clever idea and I know that my dad (aka Oldengrey on howrse) will buy it, if he doesn't I will be EXTREMELY surprised. I would def use this if I was on howrse as often as I used to be but with other stuff in life I don't have all that much time lol.

Candrence In reply to dolphin-dreamer [2010-02-17 01:40:16 +0000 UTC]
Thank you very much!
I knew someone would point that out and I was surprised no one had yet until you. BUT, that was intended, lol. The white marking there on a clownfish comes to a curved point there like that, and it is only slightly out of alignment in the transition from the belly to the shoulder muscles because it is supposed to look like the shoulder muscle is kinda large.
Cool, I've seen Oldengrey around on Howrse so I'm honored that they will most likely use this as a coat if the Black Pearl ever comes out, lol.

Okay, I've waited a day or so to comment on this, yet I still don't have time to say all that I'd like to. The coloring is what really makes this, I think...the fish half of the creature looks so smooth and wonderfully blended where it needs to be, but the bold stripes stick out without appearing "digital." Yet you didn't overdo the highlights or the shadows too much. I can't really pick anything out, the whole thing just seems like a job well done. It's astounding. And that splash! I love the choice to keep the background a solid color but to imply the presence of water with something that well-painted. Beyond beautiful, definitely a , and if they ever get that black pearl sorted I know where one of my passes is going.

Candrence In reply to brightredrose [2010-02-16 23:56:56 +0000 UTC]
Hehe, first off, I've done that too where I wait a day or two before I comment on some of the nice pieces I come across
Those stripes got a little tricky for me at first, but it sounds like I was able to beat them into submission, lmao. I'm so happy that you enjoy how my first-ever splashes turned out!
And yes, that was the effect I was going for, which is also why I picked the background color. That's the bg color on Howrse where you see the picture of your horse displayed, so this way, my "coat" doesn't really have a "background" but yet it now blends into the Howrse bg to still give off the illusion of coming out of the water.
*blush* Thank you sooo much for such sweet and kind words, hun!!!

brightredrose In reply to Candrence [2010-02-17 00:15:37 +0000 UTC]
