Description
Art trade with *Celso33Of his character Potryra ! I wanted to draw her in her natural element and I've been DYING to test out an effect that would look like sunlight shining through tree leaves, never found the right piece to do it on until now!
she was a lot of fun! sorry for the hold up with art trades guys, my house is under construction so I've been preoccupied. but I'm back on that pony!

I really think you surpass the prototype. It would be exciting to see such a bold beauty wrestling with a wild beast of her jungle!...Β

The sun dappled effect looks great! It really sells the jungle setting and I love her pose, very strong and agile, great work on the vine too, I love how itβs taught above her hand and loose below it. One of the many little details that make this look so sweet
It doesnβt hurt that she has an adorable expression either

So I REALLY like this, especially since you are literally (and no pun intended) branching out and doing something new and exciting. Just promise me you will never use the canvas texture in photoshop. If you know how to use layers, you will use legit bark texture, because right now it looks like she's on a set of Blue's Clue's. Also, when you are doing leaves, try not bunching it up in one spot, like make a few other branches with leaves on it, and over lap leaves over the bark. Also, I feel that the background could have more dark shadows in it, as its over highlighted, and looks like shes infront of a curtain. For the light texture, its great for a first try, but try and maybe feather the shadows, just by SLIGHTLY blurring it (a controlled blur, not the generic 'blur' filter) because shadows from leaves are not going to be that solidly blocked in.
OTHER than these things, I would like to say that her pose is amazing, and this character looks great in your style. I love the feather, the flower and her face especially. The bright colours really work well with your style, and therefore the character is perfectly chosen for your type of art. I really like the dynamic composition, but can't help to feel like the background could have had more in it. Don't be afraid to push yourself! I know you can do it! I also really think you are getting better with body mass, and legs and arms over lapping, because for a while there nothing was and it was awkward to look at. I think this piece alone shows a huge improvement in your artwork, and you should be very proud. It's a shame it isn't for you, because I wouldn't mind getting a print! Great work Jess, I look forward to seeing you experiment more

oooh, she's hot. I love the shading technique you tried here! It's effective for the atmosphere as well as the character. It certainly does look like the sun is shining through the tree branches and leaves. You also did an excellent job on her pose and anatomy. Overall, this is royally impressive work! I love this a lot.

I was wondering if it was what you were going for, or if it was body camo. Nonetheless, it's a great first attempt, and I'm sure with a bit of practice, it'll look amazing!
Awesome job interpreting their evocative OC here, Candy!
