I haven't read them, but I have kept myself updated with the story line. I only own part 1 of the fan conclusion Andrew Modeen did.

It gets kinda crazy/over-the-top at times, but there's some REALLY good stuff in that run. And Andrew and co. did a hell of a job with their conclusion. But for a little blurring of the lines here and there, it seamlessly transitions the Image run to vol. 4 of the Mirage run. Definitely worth picking up the second installment if you get the chance.
