Description I'm making short comics as a way to practice my pathetic Photoshop skills before beginning Serious Engineering's canon work. I have learned SO MUCH with making this one comic. Here's a list!
1. I'm okay with perspective - better than I thought
2. I'm TERRIBLE with coloring and should probably leave that to Ryan
3. I need to trace over all straight lines on a second layer to make them look less straight
4. I am getting better with hands but am still not professional quality with them
5. I love placing Easter eggs in backgrounds that make the world seem more "real"
6. I'm good with pacing and silent storytelling

Next on the list of tings to do is making a line drawing and having Ryan color it to see how well my lines and his Photoshop wizardry match up.

Your use of body language is delightful.

Maybe try practicing hands in closeup? Any kind of intricate work would suffice as a subject, if your characters are trying to build or repair something, make art, put on accessories, etc.

Yeah, all my hands look stiff.
I hate to admit it but I'm not a terribly good artist. None of this stuff comes naturally to me. I'm much more of a writer, to be honest, but I LOVE drawing, no matter how mediocre it looks.

>>Yeah, all my hands look stiff.<<

Hmm ... I think it's more a chunkiness. You pose hands pretty well. They're just not always in exact proportion to the rest of the body.

>>I hate to admit it but I'm not a terribly good artist.<<

I disagree. I've seen people with more technical finesse, but that doesn't mean you're a bad artist. You consistently capture the meaning of what you draw, and a significant portion of your pictures have interesting subject matter. You also do body language well, which is something that some technically skilled artists suck at. So that puts you ahead of many other artists.

When I spend more than a few seconds in someone's gallery, it's because I see something there worth a closer look. Browse my Favorites -- you'll see it's not all expert stuff, though I do like pretty pictures. I'm after speaking content.

>>None of this stuff comes naturally to me. I'm much more of a writer, to be honest, but I LOVE drawing, no matter how mediocre it looks.<<

Some people find art easy, others don't. Same with writing, really. What matters is that you enjoy it and get something out of it. If you practice, you'll get better.

By all means, know where you could improve you work -- but don't let that eclipse what you already do well.

Practice makes perfect as they say! Though having said that, your skills are already pretty good! This lil comic strip was great too!

I thought it was really good, especially the man-grooming montage ^_^ only egregious error I saw is that hand in panel 2.

That hand. THAT HAND. Thumb you are drunk go home.

I went back and looked at panel 2 to see what you were talking about and laughed until I cried. Thank you.

Lol, great comic! I love how Victor bust it butt to get ready and he finds Quentin reading comics. His expression is awesome and I think the comic looks fine coloring wise. I didn't see any errors

Yes! I missed these funny little comic strips of SE No matter how you draw, it's always enjoyable.

Just little critique: The straight lines don't match with the other lines because they look darker than the rest. Better draw them with hand too or make them less black.

I likt the piggie cup btw, so cute! And the woman on the heavy metal magazine. Little details are awesome.

Yay! I'm glad!
Good idea about the straight lines. I'm not tech-minded at all and unless someone shows me how to do something in a program I won't figure it out on my own. I'm rather dumb that way.
And thank you about the details. I want to make it clear what belongs to Viktor and what belongs to Quen (hint: weird, silly things are Quen's)

Poorly I can't help. Sai has aweful tools for making straight lines, so I mostly never use it. But you can chose other colors for the lines, or make them transparent or so. Try around with your graphic program.

Yup, Quen is a weirdo I like all the silly stuff. I wonder how this two different people match together in one household *g*

They work together as a couple because
A. they're both in their mid-30's and the 'you don't get me' crap that younger people put themselves through doesn't apply to them any more
B. they both understand the concept of suffering far too well
C. they have high respect for the other's craft and the professions match well
D. they find each other's eccentricities cute

Okay, doctor! *g*
I think that couples with different personalities often work very well with each other.
