I think you've got Satoshi Kon and whatever Stephen Dorff guy mixed up.
I saw Paprika in 2012 and ending up being dissapointed. Just another "trippy" movie with all style and no substance, and characters less emotionally worthy than the ones in Inception. My favorite movie is AKIRA.

In my opinion Paprika is his weakest movie. To see real brilliance check out Tokyo Godfathers (not trippy at all - a beautiful Christmas story about homeless people trying to reunite a lost infant with her family. It's one of my favorite movies of all time) and his series Paranoia Agent.

The first ten or so are high quality stuff, as are the Andalite and Hork-Bajir Chronicles. Something happened and she went a bit..... sitcom, unfortunately.
