What the heck?! Quen and his friends like to go shopping?? I am loving these characters more and more.
Also I like the Corelle's commentary in the first panel about how "Actually, I guess he looks like you because you both have beards" and every thing before that really had me going! I do that all the time
and also also a comment from my sister "Tell Roman I like the part where he says aw, cause' she has no arms. That is funny. "

A big part of this chapter is Quen and his weird friends taking Corelle along with their monthly "treasure hunt", where they stake out a dozen or so horrible 2nd hand stores and try to find the most horrible thing ever. Winner doesn't have to pay for lunch.

I know, I know that is first impression and I can during story change my thinking about characters douzen of times.
But for now looking at this page photographs and previous one I had a feeling that Ian and Carmella wouldn't be happiest married couple in this story...
For me more it feels alike they "married puuted together on glue" - started not bad, they thought times would make it better, but differences were more and more visible. And that guy from previous page...
Especially when I am comparing Ian during wedding (so funny wild) and his current quiet and more shut in personality.
Well it's still first page, maybe I bring such judge too early...

I'm honestly not sure what to think about the character roll call. I guess you want to get into the story faster but it feels too much like an exposition dump and "tell don't show".
Ian seems like an overly joyful guy who just keeps it togehter most of the time.

I'm sorry you are getting irritated by it. It was either do this or spend 200+ pages of "show don't tell" before getting to the actual plot. I spent a LOT of time milling over this and decided that this would be the best way to introduce everyone naturally AND not lose readers who would otherwise get bored from a downright meandering intro.
A quick, cute character intro via dialogue that shows Corelle's naive interpretation of characters we later learn to be completely different than they first appear fits with the ongoing theme of the story of humans being complicated, ever evolving animals. People are not what they seem on first glance, especially here.
The goal is for the first volume to read completely differently the first and second time you read it all the way through. Little things like Carmella's haircut, Ian's wedding picture, Rex's hand-scratching tic, Viktor confusing Corelle's name, and even Eugene Mercier's friendly interest in Corelle will have far more weight, some of it downright disturbing.
